PRE-GAME Round 4 - Roosters vs Broncos

Kotoni won’t let us down.
He'll do his job to the best of his ability but it is a big ask to contain the best centre in the game when your NRL career is less than 10 games old. But a solid game tomorrow night will kickstart his career and it will lead to more playing time in the future.

I think we have no problems getting up for the big games, it's the others we seem to struggle with. Signs of a young team yet to fully mature.
That was the trend for last year but so far this year, we have beaten a horrible NQ side and lost to two top 8 sides from last year. No doubt they will be up for it but I'm not sure if they have the talent to spring an upset against the reigning premiers. I hope I'm wrong as I'll be in the Berwongle Stand cheering as loudly as my lymph nodes will allow me.

I think you are greatly overestimating Jimmy’s defensive abilities...

I'm not at all but Jimmy can quickly make up for it from any section of the field and totally against the run of play. Jimmy is experienced at dealing with Mitchell and has been burned by him on a few occasions but has returned the favor. Staggs (although talented) is vastly inexperienced here and is on a hiding to nothing.

Mitchell hasn't been firing yet this season. He's been easily contained and has been frustrated out of contests.

We have become somewhat of a bogey side to the Roosters.

In Brisbane yeah, but in Sydney, not so much lately.

Our win against them last year was our first since 2012. Prior to that we lost 5 straight.

To be honest, he has been playing 5/8th for the last 2 rounds. It would be great if he was there again though.

Not a fan of this side. I didn't want or expect him to make wholesale changes but I think if seibold should have either picked a 4 forward bench with carrigan getting shibas spot, or bitten the bullet and dropped sua for carrigan. Sua is big enough for the middle and will become a good one in time but to ask him to give 40 minutes in the middle against the roosters is too much. Lodge, tpj and ofa will all need to play AT Least 60 minutes each and we have 2 natural second rowers and a 3 game experienced prop who had a confidence sapping game last week. Also, if he went a utility on the bench I would have preferred Perese or Turpin for very different reasons. Pereses speed and step is unbelievable in broken play (late in the half), or Turpin because macca needs less minutes...

One things for sure. We have had the most consistent spine combination in all of the nrl. By consistent I mean it’s been unchanged for a long time. What teams can boast that consistency?

Turpin is injured, won't be playing at all this week.

Perese still hesitates in most situations and is learning the game, you couldn't be confident he'd grasp the situation off the bench if he was thrown into a foreign situation.

My take watching him on Saturday night was that if he's just asked to run, on the left and break some tackles he can but anything that was required beyond that and he looked lost.

Shibasaki hasn't been in the same form as last year changing halves and Ahearn not being as good wouldn't be helping but he has a head start in understanding, he's also more robust so he if he had fill in for a while in a variety of backs roles he's more likely to do it. Against Easts he had to find his own ground and ball and did it really well.
