And just on Jensen, how the hell weren’t we allowed to activate him as 18th man yesterday. We lost Carrigan to a reportable offence / foul play. Unless I’ve got it wrong, isn’t that exactly what the 18th man is for
Just on the 18th man... the rule is the offender needs to be sin binned or sent off to allow activation of the 18th man.

If Jazz was binned then maybe we could've activated the 18th man for Carrigan... although I'm not too sure given he played on and was replaced at half time

This is exactly the shit this reff dished up.

All game.

Compounded bad calls that fucking derailed us.

He's gotto be sacked. Kevvie needs to blow up for them to do something about it but he won't cause he has no balls.
I agree with the notion that something should be said especially about the the referee's custom of using a 'Tip Sheet'. It's my understanding that they have information given to them pre-game about players and teams and are told who and or what to watch out for.

Fleglers name would have been on this sheet( if it still exists) but I disagree about KW not having the courage to raise an issue. It's just never been the Broncos way.

I've only ever seen them go all in on an injustice on one occasion and that was the 14 men on the field fiasco. Happily we were winners that time although we copped a fine.

Well what a stupid rule that is (should we be surprised).

An illegal tackle rules a bloke out for the rest of the game and subsequent weeks / months, but you can’t activate your 18th man because the ref of the day didn’t bin the offender.

Conversely, Warriors could have swapped AFB for their 18th man because Flegler was binned for his ludicrous ‘late hit’.

SMH.

I love the pic on the Home Screen of this game. @meady with his hand around Radley’s throat and not another Bronco to be seen amongst the sea of Roosters.

I remember that well too, he was fired up and prepared to stand up for his mate. Something we’ve sorely missed.

Time for a recall.

We lose to the Cows 38-12. Cows lose to Roosters 28-4. My complex mathematical solutionator predicts with 99.876% certainty that the score next week will be 54-8. To the Roosters.

We will beat the Roosters thanks to the return of Riki, Capewell and a stirred up meat ant's nest in Gamble. Now tap that one into your solutionator for the following week.

You really see us scoring 8 points? We only managed 6 from the warriors (THE WARRIORS!) off an individual effort.

We have had a pretty soft opening to the season and we are only averaging 10.25 points a game in attack.

We'll tough this one out, 14-10 in our favor sounds about right, I reckon.

I think Gamble needs to be in the team if not for his ball playing skills, then at least he knows how to rile up and “piss off” opposition players.

As much as I had Ennis when he was at the Dogs, he gave brutal smackdowns mocking and belittling opponents that most otherwise great players would have a brain snap and play with “wrong” aggression. Psychological warfare is just as important in my books and he all know that Radley is te Roosters loose cannon.

Lots of people keep saying changes aren’t good because it’ll disrupt the team.

Ahh, have you seen how clunky and disorganised we are in attack and brittle and confused we are in defence?!?

I don’t want us to name a completely new 17, but dropping some of the team handbrakes can’t hurt.

Turpin is supposed to be amazing at defence, and sure, he gets through a lot of tackles. But we had absolutely zero line speed yesterday and the week before. Shouldn’t he be leading this, at least in the middle? Let’s not even mention his abysmal attack.

Why did we buy Lee if we’re just going to let Staggs put in horror show after horror show? Lee is no world beater, but at least he knows what winning feels like and has performed at the highest level.

Cobbo is seriously lost next to Staggs and seems massively down on confidence. I do think he has huge upside, but why not bring in Jordan P so Cobbo can go back and tear some teams apart in QCup?

As for Niu, I defended him in his first season, but he’s stupid and lazy, I am just not sure which one he’s more guilty of. Makes a break, has Farnworth trailing, doesn’t even look for support. I’ve been saying we should put Farnworth at the back for at least a year and cannot see any way this wouldn’t be an improvement.

With Flegler likely to be suspended until his grandkids are lacing on boots (even though only one tackle is worth a look), bring in Jensen.

**** the NRL is a joke!!!

Jensen played 60 minutes for Wynnum on Friday night in Townsville- not sure you want him playing Saturday.

It was a poor choice as 18th man.

Assuming JWH will be missing for his wild open handed haymaker at Hiku standing at marker.

Lol, just kidding, that won’t happen.

Poor choice or not, surely having him would be better than having one less player on the bench?

6. Gamble 9. Paix 14. Walters. 5. Anyone but Cobbo.

Instruct Katoni not to throw dumb ass passes if it's not the 5th play.

Is Gamble even in good form down in ISC or will we just be leading a player to the slaughter??

It's likely he will be brought in with Albert being injured, but he will be coming into a team that has zero confidence or belief, and now has injuries piling up.

If he fails because he's been brought in and too much is expected of him, likely given we're getting nothing from 1 or 9, then he could be pushing the ball just as much as the rest of them and there would be calls for his head as well... kick starting the merry-go-round of team changes as there will also be pressure from the media to bring Mam in.

If Gamble is not really in form, then I'm not against moving Staggs to 6 for the time being and bring Brenko in to solidify defence on the edges (absolutely necessary). Staggs in 6 will force him to get his hands on the ball and allows us to make a change on that right edge without having to drop a marquee man... and the associated publicity around that.

I'd also have Cobbo spending some time down in Qcup, but if not then at least he'd have Brenko set up next to him. Dropping Cobbo to ISC can be sold to the media easier.... young, coming off covid, work on a few things, etc.

The other alternative is Billy to 6 and bring Paix onto the bench. I would prefer Paix continue to develop down in ISC and have him come in when he's in form... I'm really not keen on bringing a guy in unless they have confidence and form to bring with them. Otherwise we're asking them to do more than what they have been doing and at a higher standard. Also it seems like the next step of his development is learning to play 80min down in ISC for the step up to NRL... bringing him onto the bench to play 30min a game is a 180 on a plan they developed over the off season.

The reason it has to be sin bin or sent off, is because teams would exploit it immediately if it were just putting a player on report.

With the amount of diving and offences being put on report, there would be opportunities to activate the 18th man every single game... storm would just have their new equivalent of Nicho sitting there as 18th man and when a prop gets a crusher in the 60th minute they'd be having their little lie down to get a reportable offence and bring their "Nicho" onto the field.

Coaches can't be trusted to not exploit a rule.

Ballard says:

Carrigan: Grade 2 strain of his MCL and will require 4-6 weeks in rehab.
Kelly: Lisfranc injury to his foot and will see a specialist later in the week before we map out a way forward.

Burn everything to the ground. Everybody saying we can't make wholesome changes because of 'team cohesion' are kidding themselves. We don't have one semblance of it anyway.
