Maranta to the bench is a weird one but I can see Hodgeo being rested in the 60th or something
We'd only rest Hodges if the game was a blow-out win (our games never are), and in any case Oates could cover better than Maranta.

with barba having two big power runners to link up with at the back our kick returns should be awesome,, we may be a bit shaky under the high ball though which was the argument for maranta to keep his spot. in a perfect world reed would of been dropped. but oh well. copley is a much better option to have outside hodges in attack especcially with his tendancy to run back inside when the man inside him runs across field which hodges does alot of. it will leave copley open for those inside balls that he has been getting from barba, except probably with a bit more space because hodgo tends to shake off his opposing centre first

you must be kidding - the right choice - give me 3 good reasons why keeping Reed is the right choice

1. He has had more good games than maranta

2. He can come up with some special plays that have often changed the momentum in our favour

3. He is a well established and core part of the side. There is combinations that need to be considered and possible affects his demonition could have on the rest of the squad (NRL is about more than stats and assembling a supercoach team)

sorry - if they dont think Hodges will get the 80mts then put Oates from the bench to play wing and put copely back in the centres but dont leave Maranta in the 17 just in case as we once again will be playing with 16 players not 17

Great that Hodgo is back can't wait to see him in action

Reed has experience and he has the ability to come up with a game-changing play, his defence atm is a concern but hopefully that will improve each game as he gets more confidence back in his shoulder. But that's just my opinion and there's no way your going to change your agenda. Just let it go, move on...

Kinda disagree with the last point. I think it could create feelings of entitlement and complacency. Didn't a lot of people complain that Griffin sticks with his favs even if they don't perform?

You are talking about a centre - Reed v Maranta - a winger - centre is a specialist position and Reed has missed a million tackles - let in around 5 or 6 tries with those missed tackles - and the special plays you are talking about - is chasing a bomb and 1 out of 20 coming up with a try - and he has not done that this year yet - no need for combinations as Copely who should take his place trains with Vidot and that will be fine - remember Reed and Vidot have only played 4 games together anyway- and the possible effects Reeds demotion may have on the rest of the players - please give me a break - for a start it would take away the pressure of Alex Glenn having to cover up for Reeds lack of tackling ability and these blokes are professional athletes and whilst it may be disappointing for some of them i bet most of them silently will be happy as he is a burden to the team and mate it has NOTHING to do with supercoach - what on earth are you thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes alot of people complained about that but I don't think the players did, and that's my point. All I'm saying is that we don't know what the team dynamics are and it is a bit silly to go "I have these stats and they say he must be dropped". As I have said before the team was named I was hoping reed would get dropped because I think he is out of form, but he has the runs on the board so probably deserves some more time.

at least maranta making way simply means copley slides one out to the edge to fit hodgo in. means he sticks on the same side of the field that he's gotten comfortable with this year and our left side remains as is. important to keep this stability.

copley outside hodgo could be amazing.

and for what it is worth I was saying all last year that he was a liability in defence and is too slow in attack so do not blame his shoulder problem cause he never uses it anyway

The special plays im talking about are for example his grubber to get a dropout last round. At that point the dragons were getting the ascendency anf that completely changed things. He does stuff like that constantly

So centres only have a combination with a winger do they?

What on earth I am thinking? I'm posting my opinion. Something that we all allow you to do even though you persist with plastering block text and all you want to discuss is how shit you think reed is.

Happy with that team being named! Hodges first game back being at home is a shot in the arm, hope to see a big crowd for it! 40k+ would be be nice.

For Reed's sake i hope he has a great game, otherwise someone else deserves to get a shot at a starting spot in the back line. With a bit of a shuffle around we could go with Oates, Maranta or maybe even Kahu?. Just imo..

Has anyone even thought that dropping Maranta may be because Hodges don't trust him and that lack of trust may cause him to take the wrong option.

we all saw his reaction to Marantas bombed tries last year

Let's focus on the positives...

Justin freakin' Hodges is back!!!

Maranta will probably fufill the J.Wallace sitting on the bench for 80 minutes for cover role.
