Fighting Irish,

I suck at spelling and grammar on my iPhone as well and while I love your fight, I am not so keen on the Irish English. Would you mind using some punctuation? It would just make it that little bit easier to Reed.

Got my feathers all ruffled until I realised there will be a backline shuffle happening this week.

Maybe they don't want Hodges playing the whole game yet but know time on the field is what he needs.

What the **** is with that interchange?!? Maranta 17? where will he play?

It will be between Oates or Maranta on the bench. Oates can play second row, wing or centre or Maranta can come on and Vidot can move into the second row. Just a guess though. Wallace would make 3 props and I don't think we need that. I'd prefer Oates though.

Surely Maranta doesn't get a bench spot. That will truly be unbelievable.

JUSTIN HODGES!!!!

No idea what Maranta is doing at 17 though.

His only named there really in case Hodges is a late withdrawal I'd say, can't see him making the bench, Oates can play in the forwards or backs. Shame for Maranta that Hodge's inclusion comes at his expense he has performed well this season so far, gained confidence from it, hopefully it will help him in the future.

Reed should buy a lottery ticket cause he is very lucky to still be in the team. If he doesn't perform on fri night bench him and give Copley or Oates a shot at centre.

Lol at the "FFS Reed over Maranta" comments.

Reed had a terrible game against Dylan Walker.

Reed's saving grace, that he is an inpenetrable brick wall in defence, wasn't even going for him.

There's too many quality backs knocking on the door for Griffin to accept mediocracy.

Has anyone even thought that dropping Maranta may be because Hodges don't trust him and that lack of trust may cause him to take the wrong option.

we all saw his reaction to Marantas bombed tries last year

I can't imagine it would come to that. Maranta didn't exactly endear himself to Hodges (or anyone) last year with some of his efforts in attack, but I doubt that's the reason.

Looks like they are more concerned with maximising our potential in attack. Despite his safety in defence, Maranta offers the least in attack.

You mean Dylan Farrell right?

As for Reed's defence, and Copley's for that matter, I posted earlier. So far this season: Reed - 9 missed tackles. Copley - 6.

Hoffman: 15

If people are going to attack Reed, then it shouldn't be about his defence, or, alternatively, in the interests of some fairness and objectivity, people should be criticizing Hoffman with equal venom.

Reed may not be in the best form, but I can't see how he deserves to be dropped. He is an integral part of the combinations this side has been working on and have worked by and large, very well.

As for Maranta, I agree with others who say he there as insurance in case Hodges withdraws.

Oates just has to be there in the playing 17. He is real class.

On the flipside...

Total Tackles

Hoffman: 45
Reed: 22

If anything, those statistics raise concerns for our entire left side defence. Glenn has and continues to rank high for miss tackles and Vidot has some concerns as well. I'm not using these statistics to advocate the dismissal of Reed but it's certainly an area that needs improving as teams will cotton on to the Broncos weakness.

Hoffman is making more tackles than Reed and Reeds missed tackles are leading to tries.

Team List

1 Ben Barba
2 Daniel Vidot
3 Jack Reed
4 Justin Hodges!!! (c)
5 Dale Copley
6 Josh Hoffman
7 Ben Hunt
8 Josh McGuire
9 Andrew McCullough
10 Corey Parker (c)
11 Alex Glenn
12 Sam Thaiday
13 Matt Gillett

Interchange
14 Martin Kennedy
15 Todd Lowrie
16 Ben Hannant
17 Lachlan Maranta
18 Jarrod Wallace
19 Corey Oates

Quite happy with that team although I would've dropped Reed as Maranta has been in good form while Reed has been struggling in the meantime. Maranta on the bench is odd as I would have no idea who he would replace or come in.

The bench I would select for this game would be

Kennedy
Oates
Hannant
Lowrie
