I thought he was one of our best in the opening few rounds, his game against Penrith was poor but I thought he deserved some latitude.

Seems like Hook is not the type to give players too many chances to get it right. Gagai was the first victim, Copley didn't fare much better and now Tronc and McGuire.

On the other hand, he could be rewarding good performances from the players in Qcup/U20's and giving them a chance to show their stuff in first grade, while sending out the message that no spot is safe and you need to perform every week.

Yeah his style is a little bit strange, dropping players and giving players limited opportunities...and yet we're leading the comp.
But I'll hold my judgement because I haven't seen enough of his style to really figure it out yet.

I think it's positive. While McGuire, Tronc and Copley didn't do a lot wrong, they didn't do anything that spectacular. Give someone else a go and see if that gives us a BETTER result.

I prefer that to the Bennett/Henjak style of "well, they didn't do bad, they tried hard, give them another go...and another go...and another go etc".

It doesn't explain why Gillett is still there, he must of been meeting goals that McGuire wasn't. Surely it couldn't be based on general performance.

Although Gillett's potential to be decisive in a game is much higher than McGuire's, and you sort of feel Gillett could explode at any minute...

anyone know anything>? did they even train today?

Am i the only one that reckons Tronc is doing a great job for us? He only plays around 40 mins, but usually does a mountain of work, and imo, he is the only prop we have that ever looks dangerous. Yes, he lumbers up to the line but he is ALWAYS looking for the offload. Hannant doesnt cut the mustard for me, he doesnt create opportunities at all.

Agreed. Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say Tronc is **** shit, but I think his start to the season has been a little disappointing. After seeing his performance in the trial at Redcliffe I was very excited about what he could offer us, he was nearly the best on the ground that night and his offloads were freakish.

Hannant hits the vantage line and runs with a lot more purpose, at the moment anyway.
