Round 5 Discussion

Once again, we saw another huge possession swing in the second half, the Eels had 67% of the ball when they went on their scoring spree and it changed the game completely.

The game reminded me of their 2018 encounter where Parramatta held a firm lead until Waqa Blake made his presence known. He did the exact same thing here and just left the Panthers right edge defence for dead.

Watching it made me wonder why our games are badly called, 6 again both ways, no obvious bad calls, the gutho one was playing for the penalty and the ref told him to shove it. Fair sin binning, nothing to complain about.

A little bit of personal bias and a little bit of ref bias and a little bit of refs learning the new rules

The nrl has obviously decided that Souths need a win. This refereeing is pathetic. Tv off.

South Sydney look much improved with Walker back, he just sparks their attack and keeps the defensive line honest. Souths have had some luck go their way but I feel it's a case of fortune favouring the brave and they've earned that benefit of the doubt.

The Gold Coast have their moments, their backs working it out of trouble have been fantastic, but the structures inside the attacking zone have been terrible. Either the passes aren't finding the mark, the players are out of position and taking themselves out of the play or it's been aimless. With Souths, you target their ruck, you get Peachey some good play the ball, turn it back on the inside and give the halves some space to either hit a flat runner or kick in behind the line. I'm seeing a semblence of this, but it's like they're trying to remember a recipe on the fly.

This second half could get ugly for them, this could be just the game for Souths to restart their season.

While we’ve been terrible for most of the resumption, how nice would it have been to play the Titans first up like we were supposed to

just add it to the list ....

Nope that honour went to the cows who then got sharks in Townsville, then warriors... and next week they get manly in Townsville.

You know the team that has a couple anti-vaxxers who may not even be able to enter QLD at this stage... oh it's also the only trip to QLD that manly have to make.

Strange how lucky cows seem to get with "draws" nowadays

Looks like Copley has gone his Achilles today. Poor bugger.

It's been all Melbourne this half. The Knights had done well to keep Melbourne to two tries, but off a set restart Tino Fa'asuamaleaui crashes over and the Knights have it all to do in the second half.

Cameron Smith once again having a big game.

Smith does it every time. Sterlo saying he isnt the best hooker anymore, he just steps it up again and shows he is.

Ponga fucking butchered that try.
