I respect your point Fourex, but Wallace is at least getting us good field position (well for the most part, WTF was up with his grubber for himself in the first half?) and I believe he knows his role in the side better than Prince and isn't as big a liability.

At this stage, I'd prefer him over Prince. Although, I do see Prince as the bigger talent. Just goes to show, talent doesn't mean everything.
Prince looked fresh and sharp in the trials and early rd1 but I think age has caught him a bit, especially now he has to tackle.

Do you rate Slyney that highly? Hes an honest Qld Cup toiler imo.

Nah, he plays for Redcliffe remember? :001_tt2:

I guess that was me being a realist since Hook always seems to name him on the extended bench. If given the choice, I'd probably go Timu or Oates. I think we need more size on the bench and both of them would provide a bit more impact. Failing that, just go Gibb.

No arguing Prince's defence is a liability ....... however, I'd still like to gamble at least for 2-3 games on Prince having more influence on our attack without Wallace getting in the way. I think Prince would be better for us in the 7. I may be only one of a few these days that still believes that the 5/8 and half role aren't interchangeable. Prince has always been a half as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to see him play there with Hunt at 5/8 before throwing him on the scrap heap.

Princes defensive liabilities could be managed better if he were defending one in......imo

I guess my recent push for Wallace going to dummy half is because of how poorly I think McC is going. It seems across the board that we all notice a "sharpness" around the ruck play whenever Hunt or Wallace goes to dummy half and McC goes off. I think we actually lost momentum tonight when McC came back on. Wallace's defensive skills plus the kicking game that you're so fond of Pete, could be well utilised from dummy half.

Oates is injured, Timu isn't ready to play against men yet imo and Gibb doesn't have the fitness for first grade, at least i didn't think he did in his last appearance. I take your point though Slyney is definitely a player in the hook mould of coaching, nothing flash, just a solid worker.

Did Oates suffer another injury? He played tonight

Makes sense to me. It's probably our best option right now. Wallace handled himself pretty well when he went to hooker before Hodges got injured.

On the other hand though, we did lose momentum when Macca was off last year. I also think that he tends to be more effective as the season goes on. He's not entirely to blame for our issues at dummy half at the moment though, Prince and Wallace aren't giving him much room to move.

I don't think Prince would fair any better closer towards the ruck against big boppas. The guy is just a hopeless defender really.

That's not his only issue either, I just don't think he knows how to position himself, and Wallace has nothing to do with him being unable to get his outside men settled or timing his runs with Macca.

Hunt isn't a five eigth either, he plays his best as lead organiser and the Broncos looked their best when they were running off the back of his plays.

Can't drop Scott Prince. The coach shouldn't have signed him to begin with.

Didn't seem like the coach wanted him in the first place.

You're right, he had pulled out yesterday with an ankle injury and was replaced by O'Keefe, must have come good.

He wanted him alright. Don't be fool by what he tells people on the tv
Of course he wanted him, if he didn't he wouldn't have signed him and he hasn't said anything to the contrary. I hardly see what signing him has to do with dropping him if he doesn't perform. Like most of your agenda driven posts, it doesn't make any sense.

Well sounds like Oates had a horrible game anyways so I suppose the point stands, heh.

I just don't think Prince is necessarily a favourite out at Red Hill. I doubt he's going to get dropped though, because Hunt seems to be even further down the totem pole unfortunately.

I can live with it so long as his goal kicking keeps up, it's not as much of a lottery as it was with Parker.

Yeah just keep someone in team just for his goal kicking. Especially a not so important position like halfback. NFI nopatience101

I'm very impressed with the effort and all, but I'm still very worried about our spine. Titans forward pack is a lot better than the Storm's, we might not dominate like we did in tonight's second half.
Forward momentum is a problem, we were dominated for 30 minutes of he first half then held our own for the last ten, he second half our forwards dominated for 30 but there was still ten minutes where we were dominated on the go forward again

I would like Tallis to be our part time forward coach. Rev the lads up every week. We lack fire in the belly most weeks. Tallis is the man to fire the boys up

Funnily enough the game against them down there last year is when the rot started.

If we lose this one we're in big trouble at 1-4 going into the Cowboys game.
