POST GAME Round 5 - Titans vs Broncos

About Reed... yes, he played ok. It's not that he is bad. It's that Copley is better. We need Copley in the centres. He is a strike player. Reed is not. And some of Copley's tackles last night were terrific.

Vidot? Everyone screws up ... and most did last night. For mine, I can't wait for Hodges and Kahu to return. Vidot or Maranta on the wing is less important to me than having strike centres.

I agree with all of that. Copley didn't end up breaking the line but he looked very likely and is clearly more powerful and explosive than Reed. Interestingly the defence thing is a bit moot, not because Reed is slipping, but because Milford is often defending at centre. Copley should be fine 3-in as he'll be less isolated.

For Vidot, again, agree, but it's not me or anyone on this forum who decides.

Watching that video Super Freak posted, Dave Taylor gained about 7 meters of ground on Jack Reed over 65 meters. To be fair to Jack though, Mead would have caught probably anyone in the comp short of maybe Shaun Johnson or Greg Inglis, but damn son.

I'd love to see how we would go having a hooker like Mosley from the Titans. The way he gets out of dummy half and takes the markers out of play getting his forwards on a roll. Macca is a great defender but needs to watch how the better hookers on the comp get their teams on a roll.

Maybe it was just from where I was sitting, but the issue I had with the Vidot error is that immediately after he made the mistake, it looked like he just started ball watching rather than trying and clean it up. Did I see things wrong?

No but the shift to the wing was very quick he had no chance to stop the try. I suppose it shouldn't stop him from producing the effort though.

Macca looked like he was doing this last night for the first time in a loong time. Yet another little improvement so far this year.

Did you watch Macca last night? He was doing the same thing, plus a lot of things that Moseley wasn't

Yes I did watch him last night I watch him every week. For mind he seams a lot slower then the top line hookers in the game. He should run a bit more from dummy half , sometimes it looks like he's in two mind whether to run or pass. He should be studying guys like Luke, Smith Farrah ect to see how elite No9 play. I think he's a good player but can improve in this area. If he can I think our forwards can dominate a bit more and get on a roll.

Last night was McCullough's best game of the season by far, he was huge in defence and made pretty much the correct decisions in attack for the most part, I'd still like to see him kick 1-2 times more a game when it's warranted, and maybe a few more darts from dummy half when he can make an easy 10-12 metres.

Passing thought..

I thought Garbutt was great last night, he was only on the field for what seemed like 10 minutes, but in all 3 of his runs he made ~10 metres and was looking to get his arms free for an off-load. Was hitting hard in defence as well, hope he gets more minutes next week.

I was also impressed by him - especially that he looked to offload, and yes, the defence.

Good game last night apart from the few errors which can be worked on. Defense was outstanding and credit to Reed, (who I'm not the biggest fan of) but he shaped up well last night against Roberts, apart from one lapse which resulted in a try. Maranta another solid game and great from Milford with his vision and electric speed of the mark, that first try looked like he was shot out of a cannon!

Thaiday I think has found his spot coming off the bench. Looks so much more into it and very much storm esque for the outside inside ball for the first try. All the other usuals had their great games to, Parker, McGuire and Macca.

all in all a good game and good win with a big test coming up next week. Will be tough to contain the aggression of JWH, Moa and Nappa with his defense though cool heads will prevail so don't let JWH's niggle in the ruck get under their skins, especially McGuire.

Ryan James coat-hangers Milf around the 4:15 minute mark just before the Vidot drop-ball, should have been a penalty.

good to get the 2 pts, they will all be handy later in the season. most things to be said about the game have already been said. we have got plenty of improvement in us.

first time at cbus, good little stadium. nice vibe from teh crowd, seemed more involved than suncorp crowd, felt like much bigger broncos support than titans. maybe its because the fans that make the effort to travel down are the ones that will get involved? i dunno. lot of noise for sam thaiday every time he got the ball down there, interesting.

I'd settle for him actually getting in to dummy half when he's supposed to be there ....
