Round 6 - Broncos vs. Cowboys - Post Match Discussion

The forwards were all mostly excellent once again. Gillett didn't do much in attack, Slyney didn't seem to play at all (or at least very little), but the rest were A+++. Can they keep it up for a season though? Because we really struggle for creativity outside of that. If it wasn't for Hoffman and Reed's newly found passing game, we probably wouldn't have anywhere near as many tries.

Hoffman is piling up the tries for us so far this season, great to see and Reed has helped him there too :thumbup1:

The cowboys defence was ridiculous tonight, I don't think we lacked creativity but the amount of times a last ditch tackle stopped us was insane.

Prince out, Hunt in, Big Show on the bench

Thought we were good tonight. Fark the ref's seemed intent on making us loose this game once again!!

Hoffman is a deadset legend. I think Prince was good in the first half. He copped a knock in the second half and his defence was shaky after that. In the first half I thought he was acceptable.

Yeah it was the sort of game where it wasn't poor attack that stopped tries it was just great defence, the Cowboys really scrambled well.

Hannant:
20 runs (192m), 42 tackles with 0 misses. Machine.

Can I just say one thing too, I don't think I can remember the last time I have seen a Broncos forward pack looking to offload it so much, that has been a large factor in our momentum in attack and leading to tries.

It is time to keep prince out and play hunt. We looked so much quicker when he came on at dummy half. He has the vision and just needs some solid game time in the 7 to show what he can do.

Parker would have to racked up a few metres.

Good to see Sammy running hard again. Wish he would have had words with the refs without touching them of course

Yeah, Parker, Thaiday and Glenn were all around 130m. Gillett was on 35 or so. Parker's offloading made his stand apart though, so he'd be my 2nd best tonight, after Hannant.

Also I thought Maranta improved tonight. His running just had more bang in it. Now if only Hodges started passing the ball like Reed does...

How good is it to see a game decided by the players with natural swings of momentum rather than being manufactured by the refs whistle. Watching the broncos muscle up in defense to force the error from Scott and grab back the momentum is why the game is great, just let the players play and the best side won.

Hunt is getting more and more responsibility and he looks really sharp.

Gillett's first contact is getting back to his bruising best.

Hannant and Parker were machines.

Great kicking game all round, hitting grass more times than i can remember, although bowen missing could have something to do with that.

Reed & hoffman are going to score a lot of points this season, and that has a lot to do with norman, but particularly wallace getting back to playing on his preferred side, something many of us were calling for last year after hook decided to switch them for the season.

Hala was strong and is going to be great impact once he regains match fitness.

I still can't believe how slow macca is out of dummyhalf, and how mnay times he does things for himself instead of the team.

It's starting to become a real concern.

MacTurd won us the game tonight. Finally did something good for a change

Great game to watch, I thought both sides were brilliant. Credit to the Cows for doing so well with all those late withdrawals, although we did the sporting thing and evened the contest up by playing Scott Prince.

The Reed/Hoffman combination was brilliant once again and is becoming a real threat, which is great when you have guys like Gillett and Hodges on the other side -- it means we can threaten on both sides of the field. Thought Hannant was great and Parker and Glenn did well.

Norman continued to show a lot of promise and nuffiness that makes him such a divisive player on BHQ.

Really can't credit Hoffman and Reed enough, and can only hope that Hook doesn't ruin it next year by putting Hoffman back to fullback when Norman leaves.
