Round 6 - Broncos vs. Cowboys - Post Match Discussion

Was a great game of footy and i loved it over at the leagues club. The team is now showing some real heart and to beat our QLD rivals makes it even more sweet. Everyone played at their best was particully impressed by Ben hannet.

I think Sammy needs to take a bit of the blame there too. Lazily stepped up out of the line, opening the gap.

I think most of the blame goes to Thaiday for that. He's rushed up on JT and left a huge gap.

its so good that we are scoring tries from good footy and not just fluky/luck of the bounce stuff now.

Was disappointed with Macca's lazy effort on Kostjasyn leading to the Greenshields try. But other than that, just a brilliant game of footy

That was strange.

Watching the highlights to see what actually occured there, Macca starts off on the ground for some reason, races back, looks to be placing himself at marker before being called into the line at which point he's basically in no-mans land and opens up a gap.

Pretty weak effort.

Agree....it's good the back line is using other options to score points other than the kick to the corner on the 5th. We're now constructing our points instead of as you say, the luck of the bounce.

is our fitness improving as well? remember in earlier weeks we kept looking out on our feet after 15 mins. however no real sign of that last night.

Yeah we seem a lot fitter. First few rounds looked like we just couldn't keep up with other teams, now we seem fit enough that we don't seem to be trying to play catch up.

That cowboys try was more thaidays fault than anyone else. He rushed up and left a gaping hole.

Our defensive effort against the Roosters is looking pretty good at this point.

This game is a perfect example of why I love this club - so much character. What I really appreciated was that when things were beginning to look pear shape, the boys stepped up another gear and really took it to the Cowboys with McCullough hitting Scott with the tackle of the game to regain possession. Then that effort in the corner - great hands from Norman and Reed equaled by a great effort to just put the ball down before entering touch from Hoffman. The boys have shown a lot of belief since that Storm game and it's just really reassuring after some anxious performances.

Forwards were sublime. Up against one of the best front rows in the world, the boys stood tall and out-played them with Hannant & Parker in particular starring. Tough to pick between either player really for man of the match but I believe Channel 9 got it right with Parker who threw a beautiful offload to help set up the first points of the night before making an absolute try saving tackle on Cooper that changed the complexion of the game.

Speaking of that instance, maybe it's my Broncos tinted glasses, but the refs. have seemingly been against us since Round 1. Some of those calls from Klein were dead-set terrible and it just seems like he tries to stand out by making 'clever' calls that just turn out to be really stupid. Still can't believe he got a gig after his terrible performance in the 2008 WC Final.

Good to see Hala improve on his last game too. He's still far from match fit hence he came off only 5 minutes into the second half (he looked buggered coming off too) but once he gets going, he should be an absolute weapon off the bench. What a run to open the second half!

Also how good is it to see the side assert themselves as the dominant Queensland side? After all the hoopla about how amazing the Titans and Cows were (even from our own supporters) it's good to be able to rub it in their faces.

Yep. While i agree with others that Sam overplayed it by coming up too fast, Macca was just plain slow/lazy in getting back in position. I don't know if he got dazed in the tackle on Tariq Sims or not, but it was just poor.
