It's dour to look at, but it's effective. Welcome (back) to WB footy without Kevvie's touch...
Wayne focuses mostly on defense because we have superstars in the team that will more often than not solve the game for us. If it's not Milford, Hunt will stand up, or James Roberts, or Boyd, or Gillett, or Oates, etc...and it's a pity, because I'd prefer to see us play a "score more tries than the opposition" footy, than the current "let less tries in than the opposition", and with the players in our team, we could be magnificent.
We had full control of the game tonight, and never really needed to get out of second gear against a truly dreadful Dragons outfit. And even after all that, they could still have scored 2 or 3 tries against our left side defense, were it not for pure ineptitude. We need to shore that up sooner than later!
Still, it was good to see Hunt improve, and Milford take more responsibility for kicking, which he already does better than Hunt. We need both halves to be on their game to compensate for the lack of organisation skills and average kicking game, and for a nice change, despite a few errors and a few crap 5th tackle options, Milf and Hunt actually controlled the game relatively well. Widdop having a complete shocker probably helped too, because the Dragons could never muster enough pressure to turn the tide.
Credit to Boyd at the back, as well as Kahu, who was a beast in almost everything he did. Reed was pretty average, Oates didn't much mroe than score his try and Roberts was clearly feeling that hip flexor halfway through the game already.
Moose was his usual self and our best forward, although they were all mostly ok, especially young Ofa who is impressing me more and more.
