Round 6 Discussion

I didn't want to bog down the Broncos board with more Dugan discussion, so I'll post it here.

Look, you're not wrong at all about his shortcomings, and nobody's arguing that he's the next Fittler, Johns, Lockyer or Thurston.
But where is the rest of the team? Where are Marshall and Widdop? Where's the game plan?

The Dragons haven't gone 2 entire games without scoring because of Josh Dugan. In fact without Dugan, I think we'd have hit 40 last night. IMO he's been keeping them in games for much longer than they deserve.

Thank goodness for that.

However, what I am seeing is people trying to use last night's performance as a way to justify his selection when it was riddled with all the issues that have plagued his career.

The Roosters were overdue for a win and the Rabbitohs are nowhere near full strength so it's not really an upset result. I love Dylan Napa's defense he came up with some beauties and to do it against a pack like the Rabbitohs is no mean feet.

After watching last nights game I think it's apparent that we really need to go with Boyd at Fullback for State of Origin. He may not possess the attacking ability of prime Inglis, but he's super reliable at the back, and he gets the sets off to a good start with his kick returns (Which I'm sure will be even better in SoO)

It's also better to have Boyd at the back because we really need Inglis & Chambers defending in the centres, we can't risk Gagai defensively just yet.

As it stands -

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Inglis
4. Chambers
5. Gagai

Probably the best we can do.

South's 'just bashem with the biggest blokes available' game plan doesnt seem to be working so well at the moment.

They looked spent after 10 minutes? Very poor showing from Souths, having said that the Roosters stood up to them and played with a lot of energy, they deserved the win.

for me last night napa was immense, it was probably one of the best performances from a front row ever as stated from sam moa yes he put big hits on and everything but not only that people are forgetting he played 80 minutes which is almost unheard of these days for a prop, he also scored a try made 155 metres and made 51 tackle, i would be interested if any of use could remember where a prop has has so much effect on a game. as for sam burgess i think everyone is being a little critical of his game yes he didn't have his best game but in a loosing side he played 73 minutes made 43 tackles and 140 metres thats still a good game if you ask me, although i think michael maguire has got it from not playing him at lock

It should be a compelling evening of Rugby League action with three games that should have big ramifications on the season.

Up first, we have Parramatta taking on Canberra in a game that could be a real game of the year contender. Both teams have made an impressive start to 2016, and given their respective capacities to shift the ball around I'm sure we're in for a high-scoring match that should go a long way to their respective seasons.

We then cross the Tasman for the Warriors v Manly duel. It's a shame that DCE won't be there because his presence would have evened things up, but I wouldn't write the Sea Eagles off just yet. Despite scoring back to back wins, the Warriors are struggling to put together 80 minute performances and at times can go MIA. As they showed against Souths, Manly still have plenty of attacking weapons and can get on a real roll on if teams aren't careful. I see them as another test for the Warriors and think this game could be the difference between either side making the eight come September.

Then at 7:30 we have the Panthers hosting North Queensland at Pepper Park. On paper, you would think this would be a fairly easy win for the reigning premiers. However, with Moylan back and at home it wouldn't be too surprising to see the Panthers score back to back wins. So far they have been in every single game and could have just as easily been undefeated or winless pending on their luck. If they can tighten their game and take more calculated risks it wouldn't be the biggest shock to see them topple North Queensland.

While that's all going on we still have Cyril Connell Cup, Mal Meninga Cup, Harold Matthews, SG Ball, Holden Cup, NSW Intrust Super Cup and Queensland Intrust Super Cup...and if that isn't enough you can always go through the replay of the English Super League games on your IQ (or just hit up YouTube).

Man, Norman is looking quality. Hodgson is apparently injured too. Raiders could well be screwed here.

I really hope Laurie listens to all the people suggesting Austin for origin, he's so overrated, we'll score 18 points a game wherever he's defending.

Rapana has been killing it these season. A few really strong showings and he put his body on the line then to bring down Semi.

I think he is playing very high quality football especially this year. With Foran doing well, they have very good halves indeed. The Eels look very good. So much speed and energy. They look a very very good side

Lol....no mean ( nasty, vicious ) feet ( legs, appendages ) . Love ya work bman ! I reckon all of him was mean, feet and all !

i agree rapanas is a very underrated player and a very good specialist winger wouldn't mind him in a broncos jumper
