Round 6 Discussion

The Eels would have beaten any team on that performance today.

Great attacking structure with plenty of bodies-in motion. They're going to beat plenty of teams if they continue playing footy like that and it's difficult to see them missing finals footy at this stage.

I didn't even think the Raiders were that bad. I thought there were times where they had the Eels on the back-foot and were asking plenty of questions. The difference was defence and a couple of bone-head mistakes at crucial times. Parra read the Raiders playbook perfectly and were usually a step or two ahead of the Raiders. Meanwhile, whenever the Eels were on attack, Canberra would just hold back and allow the Eels to execute whatever set play they wanted to. There was no pressure on the Eels and when you give guys like Foran and Norman time they're going to make you pay.

I can't fault any of the Eels, they're up to their necks in this competition.

It's back to the drawing board for Canberra. Defensively they have to improve and a few players have to shape up if they want to continue playing first grade. There's a couple of individuals who aren't pulling their weight at Canberra and if they don't shape up they're going to cost Canberra a finals berth.

Poor mistake there from Lolohea, it appears like SKD the form player from last week is in for a bad week.

He should have picked that up, but by the same token I'd hold Issac Luke just as responsible. It was Luke who threw an awful pass to Johnson on the Warriors previous set and then gave away the penalty to get Manly up the field.

Bad start and the more I think about this game, the more I can sense an upset.

Starling scores his first try in 52 games.

Horrid effort from the Warriors defence.

They have been shocking tonight and if they were up against a better side they'd be down by four tries at this point.

I'm glad the Warriors scored there. As poor as they've been, and believe me they've been poor, Manly haven't been that great either. Far too many loose passes and cheap penalties for my liking. Still, if you told them they'd be up by six at half-time they'd take it and they've been the more consistent side but I think a 12-6 scoreline makes for a more exciting contest.

The Warriors have lost the plot. If I was a fan, I'd be filthy at what I've seen and even if they did win they've got to make some personnel changes because quite frankly everything is out of whack. That is not their best 17 out there and the longer they persist with this mickey mouse team, the longer they'll remain also rans in this competition.

Horrid call against the Warriors aside, RTS' effort and lack-thereof cost the Warriors.

That's twice he hasn't been able to do his job and it's cost his side.

On that form, if they keep it up which I have a feeling they will, they will be very very hard to beat. I see that sort of form as top 3 material.

As for the Warriors, wtf. Shows that a good roster means very little of itself.

What in the absolute ****, Warriors?

Roger's effort to knock it dead wasn't the greatest but no one else even competing for it?

Standing around like a bunch of slack jawed yokels.

Still can't understand why SJ isn't playing 7 and really getting his hands on the ball a whole lot more.

Oh my god Hurrell...

Me either 

The Warriors look such a better side with him at halfback.

Back a game ... talking about halfbacks, I thought Foran was simply outstanding today, and (gulp) so was Norman. They are up there as the form halves on that performance - give us a real run for our money.

The Warriors are beyond pathetic. They are not serious!

To cash out.. Or not cash out..

Let's go Cowboys!

As bad as the Warriors were, the Sea Eagles must be chuffed with that result.

They proved that they can win without DCE and a couple of their new recruits had their best game of the season. Lussick and Myles set a good tone in the middle. They got under the skin of the Warriors and that was evident at the end of the game where it finally boiled over.

#11 Tom Symonds was outstanding. I think he's one of the most underrated players in the game, even by his own team. Over the past couple of seasons, they've tagged him as a Mr Fix It when truth be told he's struggled outside of the backrow. Tonight, in his natural position, he was the best player on the park and if the Sea Eagles had any sense they'd keep him there for the rest of the season.

It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks for Manly when DCE returns. Ever since he succumbed to that ankle injury, Apisai Korosau has head and shoulders been the most dangerous player for Manly and on the face of it should be ahead of Walker moving forward. However, Walker is on too much money and has a bigger future at the club albeit in a position that is currently filled (right centre). I think Trent will go with Walker/DCE and Koroisau off the bench, but at this stage that would be a mistake.

Looking forward, Manly host Parramatta on Thursday night. The Eels have looked the better team so far this year, but it'll be interesting to see what kind of emotions come out of this game. Both clubs hate each other and with Foran ditching the Sea Eagles when they were at their lowest ebb, I'm sure there's been no love lost.

Speaking of underrated players.

Not a lot was made about his signing but Siosaia Vave has been a really handy addition off the bench for Manly.

He's the type of player the Dragons could use.

Martin reminded me of Milf in that try. Great support and vision.
