I watched Gould's show on Monday night on 9 for the first time. Once again, the Lodge situation and the NRL's stipulation about a repayment arrangement was a topic of discussion. Somewhat surprisingly to me (and probably motivated by self-interest because he thinks Penrith will get Lodge), Gould was very anti the NRL placing such a condition on the registration of a new contract.
He said when has the NRL become a debt collector for people. He also said that he had spoken to a retired senior judge who indicated that had the same incident occurred in Australia that the plaintiffs would have been lucky to be awarded $100K (I think that is about on the mark really).

Inglis wanted the Broncos to pay his legal fees from the, y'know, "woman bash" thing that has been erased from history. The NRL declared that any club that does so will have it count towards their cap. Any money Lodge gets that pays off the debt will go on the cap, it's that simple.
So the obvious solution is asking Mundine to pay Lodge's legal fees.

That is why the judgement is considered by many unenforceable in Australia and why they have launched a media campaign to try to get it. It is so ludicrously out of proportion to Australian law judgements, a court in Australia would not likely be in favour of it.
If Greenberg wasn’t so spineless in the face of the media this wouldn’t even be an issue. It has no legality whatsoever, here.
Lodge should stick to his guns, offer a reasonable sum and that is it. When it is rejected by these ambulance chasers take this to the NRL and if they deregister him, the NRL may well have a real legal issue on their hands...

The Raiders actually really should throw everything at him to go there, he'd be an easy marketing ploy - put him in their green shirt and have written at the bottom - "You wouldn't like him when he's angry"

This tweet says Pangai will be coming off the bench, but the official team release from 5 hours ago says he's in the starting line-up.. so I dunno what to make of it.

The team release only stated the 17 players that will be suiting up. Changes within that 17 can happen an hour before kick-off.

Not sure why we're lying in the press release a few hours ago if he's openly admitting that he's coming off the bench again lol, I don't think that's how tactical mind games work :P

I'm well aware of how the system works, but if we're openly publishing articles / videos saying that TPJ will be coming off the bench, I don't see why we don't just reflect those changes in the team list to save any confusion.

Although Melbourne has the wood on the Broncos in the 43 meetings between the clubs during the past two decades, the very first encounter resulted in a decisive victory to the Broncos.
Since that initial clash of the two clubs back in 1998, the Storm has won 29 of the 42 encounters, with one match drawn.
But in the eyes of many, the Broncos won the most important of them – the 2006 grand final.
Melbourne’s debut season coincided with the start of the National Rugby League premiership, the competition which had resulted from the ARL-Super League war and two separate competitions being contested in 1997. While a number of clubs from the controversial of 1997 season were either banished or virtually forced to merge, the Storm was a brand-new entity, which irked the traditionalists.
And while they kicked off with a bang winning 12 of their first 16 matches, the Storm were brought back down to earth when they travelled to Brisbane in round 17 to play the Broncos at ANZ Stadium – now Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre - at Mt Gravatt.
In what was to be Melbourne’s second biggest loss of the season, the Broncos inflicted a 34-16 defeat, scoring six tries to three in front of the second biggest crowd of the season. But according to David Middleton in the NRL Annual Yearbook of 1998, the result was in the balance until 15 minutes from the end.
“The Storm played with great tenacity and matched Brisbane across the paddock,” he wrote.
“The score was 10-all at the break after two tries apiece, then respective halves Brett Kimmorley and Allan Langer scored early in the second to make it 16-all, and it was game on. Both teams tackled superbly under sustained pressure, with the Broncos at one stage forced to defend for 24 consecutive tackles.”
But it was a Darren Lockyer break that was the game changer. Lockyer sliced through from fullback and set-up Kevin Campion for a try with 15 minutes left on the clock, and further tries to Michael Hancock and Kevin Walters turned the knife.
Storm captain Glenn Lazarus, who had won two premierships with the Broncos, was in awe of his former team.
“We blinked twice, relaxed for a second or two and suddenly they were 12 points in front,” he said.
For Melbourne, a familiar surname was among the pointscorers - C.Smith landed two goals. But it was winger Craig Smith, not current captain Cameron. He did not debut until four years later.
