I'm actually onboard with Oates to the bench. It gives Mead a spot in the backline and should any of our injury prone backs have to leave the field mid game he's a straight swap replacement.

But you would keep Moga in the side, who with the exception of round one has been average at best.

I could have put my 12 year old sister at left center and she would have done a better job in defense than Moga did on Thursday night.

Kahu's defense would improve at center with time in the position. we only ever see him play the odd game in the centers, which has the tendency to throw your timing off.

If Kahu defence would improve with time then why can't Moga's. Our attack might be finally coming together so I think that Moga will shine. Though if he doesn't hit form by origin then yes I do believe we should look at another option.

You're on the money mate . If Bennett thought kahu was or is the better option, then he would be there. His defense can improve aswell the more he plays there , Milford doesn't help the situation.

The difference being Moga has been playing centers in reserve grade and had 6 weeks in the top grade in the position ... and apart from round 1 he has gotten worse every week ... not better.

Kahu on the other hand hasn't played center consistently due to his versatility and talent as a finisher... but he is also much better at setting up his winger than Moga is ...

and with Oates being our best winger (so he needs to come straight back in) and the form that Mead showed last week (more than anything Moga has showed in his 6 weeks) ... then Kahu to the centres and Mead on the wing is a stronger lineup ...

besides if we are going to wait until the origin period to drop an under performing player (especially when we have suitable replacements) then we may as well planning for next year and tell the boys to plan their vacations for September.

Opacic had a solid game for Redcliffe yesterday. Came up with some good defence, scored a try. Looked a bit rusty but didn't look like his shoulders bothered him. He could quite easily be pushing Moga sooner than I thought he would.

Fact is Bennett likes big outside backs to help with the yardage game. You replace him with Opa and our go forward becomes circa 2016 with 35-40m sets again and a shit midfield bomb... but hey there's never really been complaints about that before :superhappythumbsup:

Who said anything about being a saviour? Opa is good up and comer who is sound defensively and can actually score a try or two. Anybody can run metres when you run half the field when you should be setting up your outside man for a clear run to the try line. Vidot used to chalk up the metres as well and we all know that he wasn't any good either.
