POST GAME Round 7 - Broncos vs Titans

Good win by the boys.

We went behind early and got into the grind and looked in control even though the Titans kept coming back. 2 of their tries probably wouldn't happen again. Oates needs some extra laps next training session for causing the Don runaway try by charging in and the Don kick to chaser on the sideline was just jammy.

The Titans are 3rd in points scored this season, so they were always going to bring points with them.

We were a very sloppy with the ball, 16 errors and bombing at least 3 tries where we could have put them away. A similar story to last week where we should have beaten the roosters by a lot more.

Broncs attack is starting to gel. 4 or 5 tough grinding games to start the season, but the points are starting to come now that we are playing less grindy teams. We can't whinge about us pushing passes too much when everyone was complaining about our attack for the first 5 weeks. I think we lead the comp in running metres and tackle busts, so I feel like we are ready to put a lot of points on someone.

Apart from his try, I can't recall seeing Kodi too much. Not sure if that is good or bad. The try will give him a lot of confidence going forward.

Milf's kicking looks to be improving, just need to get the handling errors down. Halves handle the ball so much that there will always be errors, but it seems like we can bank on at least 2 or 3 a game from him which it too many I think.

Boyd was great, set up 2 of Jimmy's tries and that energetic run back was fantastic. I wish he'd do that more :).

Gillette was......Gillette. You know you have a good'un when that type of perfomance is the norm.

Jimmy looks fantastic. So good to see him getting the ball with space.

We have the rabbits next week, if our forwards (apart from Gillette) step it up a notch I think we can put a lot of points on them.

I am not too disappointed is McGuire he is doing his job, but needs to offload, ball play more. McGuire is playing like he still a prop but it's not a bad thing to have another big body on the field.

I think the name of the game with this side is patience... and I am not that patient a guy. We have to be patient to get Opacic back on the field. We have to be patient to see if Niko and Milford can click. We have to be patient to see if Arrow can get well and take over the 13. Clearly our young props are doing well, whether people mention it or not Milford is actually getting better in running the side a bit all be it with help from Boyd. We also have to be patient to let Kahu's groin to get better. FKN patience... it kills me.

Halves definitely showed enough together to give them 5 more weeks together and for Kodi to show what he can do.

Lets just hope that Milf or Kodi don't get injured. That could really derail our season.

It's gonna get tough over the next few weeks without Hunt and getting into the Origin period is bad enough at the best of times.

If one of our makeshift halves combo pulls up lame it will get very tough to keep up with the leaders

He was written off long before he joined the Broncos and for good reason. Bennett traditionally always has an underdog in the lineup, Minto, Emmett at Stg, Waddell at Newc. He won't drop Moga for awhile yet.

I wish he would find a different way to help out the busted charity player that doesn't include him playing at centre for the Broncos. Maybe he could send him off on a charity cross Australia run or something

I love the fact that Roberts gifted Milford a try.

He didn't need to pass him the ball, Roberts was guaranteed to score himself after the only Titans player there to stop him slipped over. But instead of running for the line, he passes it to Milford.

Helps Milfs confidence too. I think Milf might have been a bit cut if that try did not eventuate. I was surprised that his speed or stepping didn't get him there without passing to Roberts, but all's well that ends well. Good play, didn't lose his head and unselfish play from Roberts sweetened it for Milf.

Especially after Thaiday beat him to the try last time.

I knew we had the game when Copley went off. Bloody jinx.
He's dead set not NRL quality with his D. He literally has the worst tackling style in recent history. How he keeps putting his head in the wrong position and getting KOd is just beyond it. It's almost expected now that he'll be off with HIA. So irresponsible

I've recently started playing Gridiron and you are taught to tackle with your head and body across the player, basically the "wrong way". So hard to unlearn over a decade of rugby teachings!

Watching the replay at the moment, and definitely agree with this. Ese'ese is going very well, but more importantly, I think the Moose experiment at lock should come to an end.
I've lost count of how many plays have died with him, that would've gone on with a different player.
Like bird?

Brisbane were their own worst enemy.

I'm always happy to see them walk away with the win, especially in those circumstances, but it should never have come down that.

The 16 handling errors tell the story. Of the 16, at least 4 of them were in try scoring situations. To do all the hard work and create the opportunity only to ruin it at the death is debilitating and it's something that the Broncos will have to fix up.

After a sluggish start, the Broncos defence came into the fore and the likes of Gillett, Sims and Blair had a tremendous influence on the game. Once the Broncos forward pack started asserting themselves, the Titans struggled to maintain their grip on the contest, allowing the likes of Milford, Roberts and Nikorima to come into the game.

The final try summed the game up perfectly. The Gold Coast with their noses out in-front try to desperately make it out of their side of the field, only for Gillett to come in and smother them, allowing Roberts to swoop in like a thief in the night and 'steal' another win for his team.

Occasionally you need to go back to basics, not talking about from an attacking point of view, but from an individual point of view. The basic drill of eyes on ball into hands, some of those handling errors are pretty easy fixes.

Wasn't able to watch the game but my view from the highlights are
Shit Moga is slow, Real slow. Don just left him for dust
OMG Roberts was brilliant and unselfish, the Milford try he could've scored himself.
Milford still has a bit of speed and the change in direction was brilliant.
Defence looked bad and I also think the Titans exploited Boyd's positional play in defence with Grubbers in behind
We should only improve from here on in with the halves now having played a game together we should get our structures right
Gillett charge down was awesome, there is an article on NRL.com about how he practises those plays
