POST GAME Round 7 - Broncos vs Titans

Get out of jail free card used tonight. Thank f*** for Roberts and Gillett. Too many errors and too soft defence. Boyd was good and was a bit stuck but bad defence organisation not having someone home on the fifth! Gillett was immense defensively but still miss his offloads and ball playing. Seems like Wayne loves coaching natural gifts out of a player to fit his grinding structure. Imagine Gillett with defence and development of his flair in attack would be a Superstar.

Too early to judge on halves went a bit MIA but looks like Boyd might be five eight next year with Bird to fullback unless KNik really steps up.

How is Moga even a discussion would struggle ISC based on current form. Offers nothing. My mother can run faster and get in a better defensive position than him. Disgusted by his lack of cover defence and slow motion chase out ran by a forward. A poor man's Justin Hodges at the end of his career without his guile, tackling ability, leadership and half the step.

3 options, Kanu to centre but agree too fragile a worry especially to our goal kicker.
Oates to centre. Will remove his perceived weaknesses in the high ball and turning to chase. If can be trained positionally will help development to second row in a few years. Just needs to get back early in set to do a hit up most sets.
Mead to centre until Opa back from injury.
I'd give Oates a run in centre if he trains ok defensively and get Mead in wing.
Either way it can't be good for the team culture to not reward the good work Mead is showing.

This week a 30 hour straight ball handling session with Glenn and Milford in front row to ram home why you don't bomb tries By dropping the bloody ball (although is fairness Copley led with knees so pentalty for dangerous play or at least broncos scrum for rake).

For mine, Moga contributes nothing to the team. I was expecting so much more from him after his 1st excellent game, and as others have observed, it's been downhill. With Mead and Kahu in the side, I think we are much more polished and potent in attack and defence. Mead is just too valuable to be left out, and I feel Kahu is a fine player, versatile and our 1st string goal kicker.

As for the halves, I again can only say how good is Foran. Milford can learn a lot from watching Foran's game: hard, straight, direct, smart and subtle as required.

He is at least fit at present and seemingly injury free, which will matter if Kahu is ruled out next week...

Did Mead save us the game with his knock into touch?

I think so.
Definitely. That was actually a really good kick and Mead was outnumbered and backpedaling. He basically had to be perfect there or the Titans score. Maybe I'm biased because it was the only good thing to happen in my corner all game but that was almost as much a match winner as the charge-down.

Did anyone see what happen to Copley?? Looked like he fell over trying to make the tackle and next minute he's off in la la land?
Smack his head on the ground or something?

What's left to say about Gillett? Our position on the ladder could be much worse without him. Absolute super star.

People saying Boyd went a bit missing in attack seem to be forgetting he threw beautiful passes to Roberts for his first two tries. Next a good controlling half, he could very well make a decent 5/8th.

I thought Milf was good for a guy still trying to learn certain parts of the game. He did a good job with lead kicking duties and he's starting to get used to dealing with being a playmaker and a runner. Be patient with him and I think towards the end of the season he will be a much better rounded player and a genuine match winner. I have a lot of faith in the kid. Kniko was good without being amazing and I think as he warms into the position and gains confidence he could be very handy.

Ese Ese has been my favourite young player all year. What a future this kid has. He's outstanding for such an inexperienced forward.

I think Moga has to go and Mead deserves to be in the team. How you go about making those two changes, I don't have the answer.

Kahu had his worst game that I can remember. He had a shocker. When a player as consistent as Jordy stinks it up that bad, all you can do is laugh with the poor bloke. An anomoly, Im sure.

If you showed someone that game with the score covered and the tries removed and asked them to guess who won, 90% of people would say the Broncos. We looked in control the whole time despite the Titans scoring a couple magical tries that made us have to rely on some magic of our own to win.

- a lot to improve but a fun game to watch. I enjoyed every second of it.

I feel that we won that game against all odds with two 5/8's. It wasn't pretty but certainly shows that we're up for it this year.

No Hunt might be a blessing in disguise or a major curse.

Still believe though. Titans were up for it tonight and we continually chased them down all night to find the win.

Agreed. We won the game without really even deserving to IMO. Against the odds and chasing the scoreboard for most of the night. The fact that we won shows our credentials. It's been a funny ol season so far for the Broncs. You wouldn't write this team off from busting out of this frustrating patch at some stage. I'd say it's more likely that we'll come good than go bad from here. But gee.. we HAD to win tonight didn't we? 4 and 3 would have been worrisome.

Wayne just said in the press conference Kahu is playing with a groin strain, one he had approximately a momth ago and it worsened tonight, which is why he took him off and gave Mead a chance.

Obviously it was affecting him significantly. Shouldn't have been out there at all by the look of him...
Must have been why his conversions didn't have quite enough pep too.
