POST GAME Round 7 - Broncos vs Titans

Man its nice winning in the last few !! Hard fight by the boys as usual Gillet and Boyd but of late The Jet is making a big difference in attack and again in D today was aggressive and solid. Nikorima played well but added more value playing as a 5/8 than a 7 so thats a concern to me. Milfs kicking was good tonight such a relief. I think though he needs to stop playing his inside and straighten move so often as its getting too predictable. Well done boys for getting 2 points!

Drop Moga

I'm guessing this isnt a sudden change of heart. Moga didnt too much at all tonight. I remember one tackle and one knock on.

Oates/Moga isn't a working combo. Moga/Mead didn't work either though.

Our attack was very disorganised. Niko caught the ball, passed and ran better than Milf but would go missing more often. McCullough was looking for his halves at times and not finding either of them. Attack would go left and dead end at Milf or Glenn. The time Milf went right he dropped the ball (again).

JRoberts and Gillette definitely the standouts.

As for former Broncos turning up well JWallace and Copley put in 100% every game. Copley had 3 tries in his first 2 games in Titan colours.

Im not sure why theres so much moga hate for this one. He was solid for the most part but my god he is slow for a back. Still, we dont have a team of flyers, with the exception of roberts, and potentially mead. In any event i cant see oates pushing in as ive yet to see him set one other player for run and thats pretty important for a centre.
Still, after completely mis-reading the bird signing, i'm not sure of anything anymore.

Was that his first full NRL game at halfback? If not it was close to it... More than happy with his performance given his inexperience in the role.

Give him, I don't know, about six weeks to prove himself?

Not his first.

His performances have been the same in every one of them and tonight confirmed exactly the kind of half he is.

He is not the half we need.

In that six weeks you're just going to see what you saw tonight because that's all he is as a half.

I'm not sure what people expected for Kodi tonight. He will never be cooper cronk.
I thought he had a great first full game at 7. Sound in defence and dangerous in attack.you can't blame him for our lack of 5th tackle options yet.

Boyd and Milford have pace and Oates does too, when he gets going. Roberts clearly has it and Mead is good too. If they were all playing together I doubt there is a faster backline in the comp, even with Kahu in it...

1. Boyd - He was actually not that consistent. Some bad stuff but some real moments where he lifted the team. I did not like seeing him give up on the Don try. 6

Have to agree with this. I think Boyd has been quite good in leading the team, making the inspirational bruising return when needed, and has been fairly watertight in organising our goal line defense, but his attack has been lacking. Particularly in the opposition twenty, he so often stalls the attack, stopping dead and then running back across field to no effect. More so down the left side - he's better attacking to the right.

The last tackle options are still killing us. Milford needs to stand up while Hunt is out and show he can take charge. He has started to do it, a little, but there's more improvement needed. We're pretty poor in finishing sets, particularly on the goal line.

Thank God for Matt Gillett and James Roberts, is all I can say.

We'll see. What we won't be seeing is Scarlett or anyone else replacing him short of injury / suspension and even if that happens, we still may not. Bennett is just as likely to put Glenn, or someone there...

So I hope he proves his detractors wrong and develops well.

I agree Moga didn't get much of a chance to disappoint us tonight.
I seem to recall that Oates was pretty damn fast in full flight. Haven't had a chance to see it for some time.

I'm not a fan of the Oates to centre idea. He shits himself in D and makes some awful decisions ( notabaly 2015 GF), he would be twice as bad in the centres.

Overall we got lucky. We didn't turn up the first 20 then got control of the game back and got very loose with the ball.
The flick passes from Roberts and Gillett stand out but overall we were just shody with possession. I hope Wayne doesn't get the shits and go back to one out Bennett ball but we need to find a better balance than tonight

Milf played far better tonight, maybe because he was the senior half or maybe because of reports Bird has been promised 5/8.

Hehe another WB mind ****

For mine, Moga contributes nothing to the team. I was expecting so much more from him after his 1st excellent game, and as others have observed, it's been downhill. With Mead and Kahu in the side, I think we are much more polished and potent in attack and defence. Mead is just too valuable to be left out, and I feel Kahu is a fine player, versatile and our 1st string goal kicker.

As for the halves, I again can only say how good is Foran. Milford can learn a lot from watching Foran's game: hard, straight, direct, smart and subtle as required.
