Round 7 Discussion

If Maranta was as fast as Johnson he'd be one of the better wingers in the comp LOL, only thing he'd need to work on is finishing tries, the rest of his game would be perfect for a winger.
Yes, nothing a winger should worry about too much... oh and lines, they would need to remove those too!

Did McInnes play five eight? Kinda interested if Nicholls is actually going to get a game for them.

That's the way, be a smart ass towards arguably one of our best player this season.

Awesome effort from the Sharks beating the defending premiers with Gallen and Fifita missing an in such atrocious conditions, they deserve a good pat on the back.

Luke Lewis what a champion and some think he has nothing left in the tank

The irony of the first bold bit coming from you, is delicious.

The second bold bit however, nothing could be more true!

Who have been consistently more reliable than him this season for us? Parker, McGuire and maybe Glenn? Certainly nobody else. It's not a coincidence we lost without him on the weekend, his safety on the right is pretty important, as proved by Daniel "Butterfingers" Vidot.

Regardless, as great as he's been for us, he probably isn't in our best 17 when we're fully healthy, I just admire how much he's improved in the last couple of years.

So, in your opinion, because he hasn't been as shit as he has in previous seasons, that's worth admiring ? There was literally no way for him to be any worse, so of course he could only improve. It's taken him how many NRL games to realise he must NOT step on that white line on the side of the field ?
God forbid he learns how to break a few tackles, then he'll really be in the upper echelon of average wingers.

What I appreciate is the absence of childlike mentions of drug use. Fortunately, virtually none of the convicted drug cheats ( hate myself for describing them thus ) were involved in the epic victory . It shows how much more it meant to the Sharks to turn up in such awful conditions, taking on the glamour team with the Hollywood touch. I always have felt that a second gf win is much harder to achieve and this year ,Souths may just be making up the numbers.

I didn't see the game, but by the sounds of it, it was hard fought and deserved, and yes... the fact that none? of the drug cheats was involved, makes it even more valuable.

I will say one thing, there was a part of the game , late in the second half, the Sharks, running into driving rain and howling winds of 100 ks an hour for five tackles straight , drove Souths backward. Sheer physics should have made making ground easy for Souths but every Sharks player sprinted forward and met the attack with ferocious determination.

Come on guys, you don't need to resort to childish digs to talk about Rugby League.

Unless you're on the Matty Johns Show, then that's basically the only ammo you can use.

I think Unbreakable a good point but sort of a 'if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle' type deals. What makes Johnston so valuable is that he's relatively well balanced like Maranta, but he's also got some pace about him. Recently his form has tapered off somewhat but that's hardly unusual for a 20 year old in his second season and I suspect he'll end up maturing into a very reliable club winger.

I've been satisfied with Maranta's performances so far, hope he's available for Saturday and hope he can build on them.

Are the Sharks just hooking Gordon after 35mins to play Barba as a winger/fullback?

Seems unfair on Gordon and just a completely weird ass thing to do.

Jack Bird seems to be going quite well in the halves too. Basically went from u20s to NRL.

Tonight was the first time I saw Jack Bird this year and in horrible conditions he impressed me, his pass low of the ground in the first few minutes was outstanding in the conditions. Haven't been able to watch his 2 previous games but he went well from what I heard.
