Round 7 Discussion

Cursed. 9 times out of 10 Stewart scores that. Would have been 6 SVRL points.

That was huge from Gutherson there to get the 20m 7 tackle re-start.

2-0 and the Eels get to restart the game after Manly were all over them early.

Fun watching Beau Scott trying to niggle Taupau. Elbows to the face, knee twists, etc. I hope Marty resists the urge to punch him and instead tramples him like a bug.

When was the last time Taupau trampled anyone though?

Lawrence out, JTrobo off and Moeroa off. I am truly cursed.

I thought Eels were a little hard done by with the Norman no try. Brown had more than enough opportunity to stop that.

But, that could be because I picked Eels in my multi.

Impressive performance so far from the Sea Eagles.

I wondered what sort of performance we were going to get from them tonight with Foran returning. I expected them to come out all guns blazing only to give up the ghost but they've been right in this. I'll be interested to see if they can keep it up in the second half. Last week they put in a similar performance only to drift out of the game mid-way through the second half. I don't think the Eels will be as forgiving so that 50-55th minute mark will be crucial.

On Parra, we've heard so much about Kieran Foran, Beau Scott and Corey Norman that I feel their big improvers are getting lost in the shuffle. Players like Paulo, Moeroa, Edwards, Takairangi and Terepo have come along leaps and bounds this year. Combined with all the star signings, it's no wonder the Eels are one of the front-runners this season.

Manly are playing quite well considering their halves and having no real hooker tonight.

RE: Norman no try.

I completely agree with the video referee here.

I'm over this human interpretation argument. Fact of the matter is that the Manly defence shouldn't have to assume that Radradra is going to run behind one of his own players. It's black and white and the longer we commit to it the better it is.

My only concern with the rule is the 'initiating contact' bit.

Notice how 9 white-washed Fonua-Blake's past discrepancies?

Channel 9 version: Fonua Blake is a player who bounced around several clubs. Bozo caught a glimpse, wouldn't be denied and brought him into Manly.

Reality: Fonua Blake was one of the top prospects of the 2014 NYC Finals Series. He was slated to play first grade for the Dragons before he was sacked for assaulting his ex-partner. Manly profiteered and life rolls on...

Penrith v Manly

Who works the ball out better inside their own half?

It's proving a real difference tonight.

It's funny how a game can just swing.

Takairangi at worst may have been half-a-step infront of Norman.

Since then Manly have received a streaky 50/50 penalty, a lucky six again and they lucked into a goal-line drop out.

They walk away with a 2 point lead and it doesn't really feel deserved at all.

And there goes consistency.
Manly get a penalty after staying down. Gillett gets his head lopped off - play on.

Parra would not be denied there.

I love the mid-field cross kick. Most underrated kick in the game.
