Well Maranta certainly hasn't been any worse than Barba was for us last year at fullback.

I'm now confused about the shuffle. One report said that Copley will move to wing outside Reed. But Reed plays on the left. I haven't seen Oates play on the right. So is it more likely Copley will move to outside Hodges?

Maybe Oates will be dropped from the wing and put on the bench so he can play in the second row and Thaiday plays prop.

Probably the best side we could put out given the circumstances, we really need Kahu & Blair to get back asap.

Pretty sure we can beat them.

How does Reed keep getting picked? What do coaches see in him that the rest of us don't.

I am surprised Vidot remained in the team though

Yeah I can't say I agree with Bennett's selections here either.

I get the feeling he was concerned about the kicking games of Benji and Widdop, persuading him to go with a more fleet footed player outside.

Personally I would have gone with what has been suggested with Reed making way. Rationalising it for a second but I'd say efforts he pulled like the one on McDonald which was a real game changer, saved his spot.

Surely one of these days when we have a fully healthy team Bennett is going to have to drop Reed, there's no way Boyd, Kahu, Hodges, Copley will be left out for him.

Maranta & Vidot are both playing better than him as well.

Hopefully in about 4 weeks time we'll get Boyd back and be looking at a back 5 of..

1. Boyd
2. Kahu
3. Copley
4. Hodges (c)
5. Maranta / Vidot

As much as it pains me to say it, Reed won't be dropped until he costs us a game or two.
While we're winning WB won't get rid of him

You are absolutely right about that.

However, What I liked was that Gillett ran around Hunt in support and stayed with him all the way, and Hunt threw a dummy to him which wouldn't have worked if Gillett wasn't there. No Gillett - no try for mine. RTS had Hunt lined up and there another defender there as well (who Hunt beat after dummying RTS to Gillett/

That is what good support play does. We need more of it
Guess who was there in support and as decoy in Glenn's try?
Gillett needs to do less decoy and more scoring though, for the sake of the 69'ers!

Unfortunately Reed is the type of player Bennett doesn't drop... we've seen it in the past.
Bennett loves his toilers, and is showing it with keeping Maranta (hardly has a choice at the moment) and Reed in the team.

Tipping Kodi to score his first try in this game
