Not at all. Carlaw has been more effective in the 30-odd minutes he's played in his 2 games than Tronc was in his first 3 appearances. Tronc is absolutely useless and I can't believe we bothered re-signing him.

Yeah but he's never going to break the line and make us metres. Especially when he hits the line, stops, throws the ball 5m backwards across the turf, or at a player right next to him, who is tackled straight away by the players that would have been in use if a decent prop had run at the line.

We scored a few tries off Tronc offloads last season...

But hey we'll stick to generalisations and start playing the man rather than the ball for the sake of talking up which nuffy is better. icon_thumbs_u

Lemme put it to you like this. If you'd ask me who'd I want to start a game, it'd be Tronc anyday of the week. Ask me who I'd rather on the bench it'd be Carlaw.

I didn't say all of his offloads were terrible. With the amount he does, he's bound to have a lucky break once and a while.

If his arms are free, he throws it. He puts not thought into it, doesn't throw it at any in particular, you just have to hope to god we have a useless halfback or Lockyer around the tackle that can see his impending brain fart, and is quick enough to grab the ball.

Lockyer has rarely taken a Tronc offload.

It's usually Macca or Wallace and both have capitilised and it's lead to points.

Brad Thorn kicked bombs that resulted in tries.

What's your point?

You missed the point completely didn't you?

Before you answer. The correct answer is yes.

I didn't bring up Tronc offloading now did I?

My point is you shouldn't generalise because it just makes you look like you don't watch the games.

No one is generalising. We are commenting on his poor offloading ability, and the fact that if his arms are free, he will offload without even looking or thinking.

Like I said above. When you're doing stupid shit like that all the time, something is going to pop up from time to time.

But the amount of times the entire team goes backwards in attack, or gets tackled in the same spot (risk for nothing) outweighs any good offloads he does.

He doesn't always do it. Although, yes it definitely became an issue this year and he deserved to be dropped. However with the starting position vacant and Hannant back I believe Tronc could do a better job as the supporting front row than Carlaw can who is much more handy off the bench.

Cox - Please, I wish I didn't watch every game. The only reason I made the point is because what's the point in arguing with somebody who's being lazy?

What's wrong with McGuire, is he injured?? I reckon he needs to be back in the team, at least on the bench. I'd like to see Dodds given the run on Prop with Hannant, drop Thaiday back to second row with Glenn and have them running wide both sides and bring up McGuire to the bench....

McGuire was added to the squad for the game AFAIK. Carlaw to start, McGuire to bench?

A real shame about The best a man can get but better him being operated on now then playing injured and being injured at the important part of the season. I wonder how far down the pecking order Lingwoodock is??

nrl.com said glenn will fill the role of bench utility

"With Ben Te'o still a few weeks away from returning from a fractured arm and Alex Glenn playing the role of bench utility, veteran forward Dane Carlaw, who made his NRL debut for the Broncos in 1999 will start in the back-row with prop Sam Thaiday taking over the left edge role."

Hopefully Sammy T makes a fist of it so Griffin is forced to keep him there. Can see his mobility being hampered by his groin though :(

Well I'm glad Thaiday is back in the back row.
He's wasted at prop IMO.
