Norman is utter utter rubbish. Like rnabokov said, his ego and lack of passing will and does make us revert to our flat one-out structure. I think Norman cost us at least 2 tries by not passing, maybe more. Hodges is a genius, very lucky he was on tonight, although he really needs to pass more, there are opportunities if he passes to Maranta.
I don't share the doom and gloom, we gutsed it out and got the 2, the boys put in a big effort tonight, very proud. We do have to fix our handling though.
My 2 big talking points are:
1. was very unhappy with the taking the quick tap when we were right in front leading by 10. When you're leading, you gotta take the points when they are on offer.
2. I've never had a problem with Robbie Farah before, but tonight he seemed like the biggest cheating fuckwit. Benny Elias 2.0. Has he always been like that?
I wouldn't say his as bad as Elias, but honestly it makes you laugh when people complained about Langer and his strips, and then Farah gets away with efforts like that.
Worst performance of the season. Started off well, we looked slick against some pretty ordinary defence but we just became too complacent and got out-enthused around the ruck. Farah and Woods were immense in that regard.
Took some great individual effort to dig us out of the hole in the end. That effort to fight for the loose ball from Hoffman was great and those runs from Hodges was also very strong.
Shame about that Hunt pass. He took some good options before that terrible pass to Thaiday. Sadly, it's that pass that's going to justify the decision to let him go.
Didn't like how our boys started taking soft options either. Felt like Thaiday started whinging too much, there were some damn soft efforts in defence (GIllett pushing a player instead of tackling them comes straight to mind) and the backs didn't attack the ball. Norman should never have allowed the ball to bounce, dumb play from a undoutable talent.
We always seem to win ugly against the Tigers. Ever since game one, it seems like our away trips have always been unconvincing that makes us all feel dirty. With the odd exception of course (*cough 2002 *cough*)
Rubbish game, refs continued this weeks obvious penalty directive and didn't let either side get into a competition.
Broncos played well for about 20mins and then got complacent and lazy and I really felt hook needed to give them a spray for only being up by 10 at halftime.
Second half was a dreadful and lazy performance and the jumper deserves better, they're never going to be a genuine title threat until they get serious and get rid of the soft underbelly. In the 63rd minute it took our forwards 5 tackles to get back on side and after a poor kick the tigers scored the next set.
Would love to see what hodges could do with a capable winger outside him.
The entire structures of the last few weeks, even the first half have vanished.
Back to the one-out bash barge, Norman's ego and starting to stand flat again - Yes Manifesto, I reckon his poor timing, ego and going to sleep at the back - glad he's going to the Eels.
Play like that next week and it's a cricket score to Souths. Inglis will make mincemeat out of our back 3
We're giving Hodges too much credit, his bad defense which let in the Utai try and Chris Lawrence wen't off injured early so he pretty much had no opposition centre to go up against.
