Round 7 - Tigers vs. Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Can someone tell me why Hala is only getting 10-20mins a game? (if he's lucky). I don't think he came on til nearly halfway into the second half. He's a great defender (once he grabs onto someone he doesn't let go i.e. JT jersey tackle last week) and the only way he'll get NRL match-fit is by playing more minutes. McGuire must have gotten a fair chunk of all the benchies minutes I suppose. And rightly so, to a point ...

Can't blame Thaiday for penalties, both games tonight the refs blew the pea out of the whistle.

Yeah ...I dunno.

Early in the match....we were on a roll. Had the Tigers still locked in their 30m on the 5th. I was shouting at the TV.... NO PENALTIES / don't let them out !!

Pweeepp !!! Penalty against Thaiday....the f*cken skipper. Thaiday is a brain dead **** sometimes..

Not the only dumb penalty he gave away either or for that matter dumb thing he did during the game

Played well..... but FMD !!!

re hala yes i thought there was an opportunity to give him some good time tonight. tigers crowd got really vocal as a long kick was put downfield and we seemed to get pinned. next minute hala makes a 15+ metre run up the middle and it completely deflates the momentum the tigers had. then he was pulled off straight away (obviously it was to get thaiday back on).. but still. thought he should of been given more time right there.

need to stop hiding him from 1st grade imo

A win is a win even one as ugly as that one. Gillett, Hodgo and Sammy were all outstanding and Princey is really coming into his own, Wallace was terrible as per usual and Maranta is not a first grader and never will be. Souths will be tough but not unbeatable, I expect the Bronx to turn it on.

Prince is lifting

Wallace is levelling.......back to his standard mediocre- ness.

Hunt was shit.

McCullough was OK ....but he's just so god damn slow with the ball in his hands. The great players look like they have an eternity to do what they want with the ball and keep everyone guessing.

Andrew....this doesn't apply to you. Get rid of the ball as soon as you can FFS !!

....everyone knows what you're going to do, which is hold the ball up...telegraph your pass and then sell whoever your passing to, a massive dump

im surprised by all the doom and gloom here. we got the job done.

I am just sick of the inconsistency from one half to the other.

We don't put teams to the sword anymore. They take their foot off the pedal.

The only game this year that I have been really happy with was against the Storm. (apart from the final score)

WTF are you on mate....??

Norman scores the first try and has a hand in the 2nd and 3rd.

OK, he fucked up one high ball in a very Norman-esque way. Usually does at least one inexplicably dumb thing per match.

I still think he's linking with the back line very well.

Norman was good for the first 20 min where he had a hand in the first couple of tries. After that he was utter rubbish refusing to pass the ball to an unmarked Hoffman or Reed numerous times. I don't think we produced one 2nd man sweep play this game because Norman refused to pass the ball. Consequently, our structure became very flat and one out. I just want to know what happened to Norman tonight, the last few weeks he has been very good and exceeded my expectations, but not tonight.

do we need to though? its round 7. storm were pretty average for most of the game v warriors. souths v manly was a tough game but neither team for me really played their best. roosters might be "flying" but we'll see where they are when it matters..

just putting it in perspective. we definitely have things to work on. but we're still moving forward imo.

LOL.......after R1 it was sack the coach and tell Buck to put the saddle away cause the team is fucked and we'll never score another point again..

Now we're not putting teams to the sword ...

Get a grip.

i think this is just plain wrong, but whatever.

i think this is just plain wrong, but whatever. seems you probably already had your mind made up about norman before the game?

+1 ...I just don't get it.

The whole side in the 2nd half struggled........somehow it's all Norman's ego's fault,

whatever the **** that means....:001_rolleyes:

Can't be happy with that effort. We started well, dominated a weakened team, scored 3 tries, and... Went to fucking sleep, probably because the players went in their heads: "We got this".:ranting:

We have to be ruthless and just put teams in these circumstances to the sword!
Our mentality must be that "the more sorry they are, the more we smash them".

I'm not too worried about the souffs game, because I'm pretty sure we'll turn up ready to play. It's in games like this where we're soft in the head or belly, whatever you wanna call it, that we have to be mentally prepared.
Everyone in the team needs to look at Hodges and Hoffman. Regardless of the scoreboard, they will keep competing at the same level to the end.

Glad to see we can attack on both sides, as it was clear to me that the Tigers were ready for our left hand sweep play. Prince went up a gear and directed us superbly in that first half, taking advantage of both our right side weapons in Gillett and the magnificent Hodges. Wallace kicked well for most part, was direct at the line, but didn't see much of the ball, as our game plan was clearly directed at attacking the weakness in the Tigers left side defense.

Defensively we were strong as usual, albeit undisciplined. It doesn't help that the pea in the refs whistles doesn't get a rest, and that Farah cheating whiner is on the other side. Not only does he cry a lot to the refs, he is a fucking diver and cheat on the paddock.

Individually, only Hodgo was a standout for the whole game, everyone else dropped off big time even before halftime. Gillett was great on the right hand side mostly, although he got lazy a couple of times, and as mentioned I liked to see Prince's progression.

The spine was pretty good while Macca was on the field, with the halves kicking game getting us great field position and forcing the Tigers drop-outs. Norman's kicking however, was quite disappointing and Prince's goal kicking pretty crappy (doing his best to cripple my SVRL team).

The forward pack still laid the platform from which we did most of the good stuff, with Thaiday and Parker on a pretty consistent high level.

Hunt was very disappointing. He normally brings some spark to our attack, but he was definitely the weakest link in the Broncos team last night. Maranta was poor, and brings too little in attack. If it's lack of confidence, I hope he gets that soon, otherwise Griffin might want to justify his nickname with Lachlan, and bring in Kahu, Kemp or Berryman.

Bring on the bunnies!

I thought Hunt came on last night and played like shit. He really is inconsistent sometimes. Or kicking game was pretty crap for the most part. Prince still needs to get better as does Wallace.

I think it was just a fact of us not playing well against teams we're supposed to be able to beat easily.

Look how we played against the Storm, Roosters and even Manly ..... we lifted.

We'll lift against the Bunnies i'm sure, but whether it's enough to beat them i can't really say.

We will play better though.

Re the penalties. The first half was littered with penalties that the refs manufactured. Can't believe it was a penalty when Farah purposely threw it into Thaiday.

Will be interesting to see how Parra fair this week after Ricky's outburst

Sam made no effort to get out of the way it had to be a penalty.
I couldn't understand why we didn't get a penalty when Norman was held back in their second try
