Round 8 - Broncos vs Bulldogs - Build Up Thread

Not that worried about Idris TBH, Reed is superb in defence and Idris is lazy so he might make an impact a few times but that is about it. Idris is not a dominant type.

I agree but I wouldn't describe Idris as "lazy". He comes in field a lot to get involved, never stands back from taking hit-ups etc. I remember the corresponding clash last year, Idris's involvement made Folau look very lazy.

To be fair, Folau IS lazy. I still can't get over his first season with us where he'd park himself on the touchline and would rarely look to get involved. Still an incredible talent and when the ball got to him he could do some tremendous things with it, but he rarely went searching for it.

I am just (still) waiting to see Hodges get the ball with 5 - 10 metres between him and the defence.

And I am sure the Dog's fans are hoping the same for Idris.

What I'm worried about is Idris against Reed and Copley in the air, not going to be confident when they bomb it down that way. Tolman isn't a threat IMO, he just makes huge stats but that's mostly because he plays 70+ minutes per game most props who play that game time will make 150+M and 20+ hit ups.

It might sound like a broken record because it keeps getting said every game but this is definitely our hardest game so far and Melbourne will be even harder the week after.
I think Copley can handle himself pretty well in the air actually, so not too worried about that.
More interesting will be how Barba handles a barrage of bombs from the boots of Locky/Wallace!

The Storm game will depend a lot on who backs yp from the Test game the night before. We'll most likely miss Locky, Thaiday and Hodgo, while the Storm will probably miss Smith, Slater and Cronk. That'll hurt them more than us I reckon...

The storm blokes always back up and Cronk won't be in the test team.

You're probably right about Cronk, but I doubt either Smith or Slater will back up though. It's only 24 hours between both games!

Players prefer to back up the next day and have done it many times before. Hopefully all the rep guys are out.

If it's 24 hours between the rep and our game then I'd say all the rep players will backup unless injured.

I hope the Storm can field their best team.

Fox just aired the Round 26 1999 clash between the Dogs and the Broncos.

I only caught the last ten, wish they had of advertised it better because that was a classic Broncos game.
