PRE-GAME Round 8 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

I just want to see one thing in particular tonight and that's some fucking support play. It defined our '15 season and the lack of it has defined the following seasons. We don't need spectacular plays to win, we need a brick wall in defence and the points will come off a player running the ball, looking around him and seeing someone there following him. Far too often there is half a chance and no one there to finish it off/keep it going. It must frustrate the shit out of the team and contributes to our attack going limp. Rabbits are full of confidence and they are always looking for second phase play, sniffing around the ruck for an offload.

In short, just support ffs.

I thought of Taylor v Haas last night. So I pulled out a few DVD’s of Taylor playing for Toowoomba and compared them over Haas’ seven ISC games.

Taylor was 17 years old and Haas is 18 so they were similar experiences levels and age.
Taylor would do freakishly skilful things, drift across the field and throw cut out passes, chip kick over a fullback after he made a bust and carry the ball in one hand. That was all just the one game I watched. It wasn’t sustainable though- you can’t do that for 12 years and have a consistent career. It was great to watch and the excitement over him was off the charts because really what prop does that?

Haas; and I have commented several times on this over the last seven weeks it's a huge stand out for me, is no risk football. Normally when a guy comes into ISC he over plays his hand a bit trying to impress with an off-load or a try pushing 10 people out of the way. Haas hasn’t taken a single risk in seven games.

Haas has off-loaded 8 times in seven games and four of those were in one game against Souths. He’s missed two tackles in seven games and made 161. He has made 33 tackle busts from 91 hit ups and av 137m. He’s a great support player surprisingly- he always trials along supporting guys.

He's played against the best pack in the Bears- and in a losing side down a man kept plugging. He's played in pouring rain with Carney directing guys at him and he hasn't missed a tackle.

So he runs hard, makes his tackles and supports up the middle. You can keep doing that for 13 years. I have been impressed by his discipline to not take risks more so than Taylor ability to take risks.

Heard there is a bit of a virus going around the camp. Not sure if its putting any of our blokes in doubt.

Holy shit they are showing a game on Fox today that the Broncos didn't lose (didn't win though).

Round 25 2004.

wont forgot this game , we were on fire

Yup, we definitely are. A bright spark in attack & rock solid defense are the 2 things the team should focus from the minute go. We definitely are capable of repeating the magic of 2015 hopefully, 1 better this time. For all this to happen, today is the start.

Let's go boys! You've got The Best coach, best crowd, adorable fans & THE BEST GROUND for RL on the planet waiting to back you all up for the next 4 games.

Come victorious today!

Thankyou.
9 is one of the most important positions and we have a part timer who is not a 9 as our second option. Pisspoor effort considering Macca had an ACL, and still no depth and backup. At this stage get Farah on min wage

It's not a piss poor effort

Wayne did sign a backup, but he is injured too

Unless you consider that Wayne's fault too?

wont forgot this game , we were on fire

We were so confident, clinical and run great support at the back end of '15; we were nigh on unstoppable.
How many times that season did we go 2 passes wide from the kick-off and either score or make a very incisive break, putting the opposition on the back-foot.
If we tried that now we'd probably concede the fastest ever try - again.
Boy I hope we can get back to this form!
