POST GAME Round 8 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

My favourite bit was when they crossed to The Footy Show after the game to see Johns and Girdler eating some humble pie with egg all over their stupid fucking faces. What was it again boys "the bunnies will win this easily....by 20"? Smug pricks.

I refuse to watch that abortion of a show, but out of interest did they address it at all?

Really impressed with how we've stuck at it over the last few weeks. We've played with a bit of heart and determination to stay in the contest, even when it isn't going well. That Melbourne game was a classic example of where we would of turned our toes up and got beaten by 40 in years gone by when we were getting pumped early. But we stuck at it and almost pulled out a win against a good team that was getting every bounce of the ball. We carried that attitude into last night's game and things are starting to build. Keep it going lads.

As everyone has said, there were some great performances (Oates,TPJ, Sims etc) so won't go into that but just want to
mention Sua. I watched him pretty closely last night and although he didn't do anything outstanding, there is a bloody good footballer in there. He plays with aggression and doesn't mind doing the dirty work. Was carrying guys and poking his head through the line on numerous occasions, he hits hard in defence and just seems to have good footy instincts. Give him a year or two of solid NRL and he'll be a star.

Just on Haas, very impressive for a young bloke. The run-down and description that 1910 has provided was spot on. I really liked how he always covered on the inside and never slackened off. He really blocked up the middle well during his stint and the Bunnies were going nowhere. We need to lock this kid up long term ASAP.

Just need to keep building and you never know.

John's mumbled something about being wrong but that was about it. Remember, they aren't allowed to give the Broncs too much due credit.

I didnt see that coming but happy as a pig in it....

McGuire is our new Thaiday, as soon as he came off we looked instantly better, young blokes carving it up, liked Bird at 7, good defensive ploy, Thinnk he will get better there take a bow Oates.
Bunnies got the rub of the green for sure, hard to say if Niko touched the line initally but the forward pass was blatant.
They looked absolutely buggered in the end, we looked like we could run around again.......I wonder.

Just like how we looked better when Macca went off last week. If Moose is injured you will start to notice we will struggle without him with a larger sample. I don't think Souths were up for the fight in the second half at all. Hopefully he gets moved back to prop anyway.

Another Broncos win. "Matt Lodge is the devil" story incoming in 3,2,1...

Our full strength team moving forward should really be:

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Roberts
4. Opacic
5. Kahu
6. Milford
7. Bird
8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. McGuire
11. Glenn
12. Su'A
13. TPJ

14. Nikorima
15. Sims (If he continues to perform)
16. Ofahengaue
17. Haas

With all respect to Thiaday, he should not be there anymore and Broncs would benefit so much from gametime and experience for all these young prospects in the back row. Feels hard to leave Isaako out, but he needs some more defensive development before he comes back to first grade.

If our halves (and Boyd) continue to improve as these young guys flourish, we could have something special.

My Thoughts -

Oates - He wants his origin wing spot back.......
Boyd - He wants his origin wing spot back.......a try and at least one kick return line break. Best game all year. Still slacks off every now and then and could show more intensity.
Moose - Too frantic for the first few minutes, just needs to calm down.
Nico - Massive threat at dummy half when the big boys are tired, question is whether he can handle the heat at the start of the game.
Sims - His brother is in the frame for Origin and he plays his best game in a long time, hopefully thats the trigger for a good run of form from him.....
Lodge - Frustrated me with his passing, makes sense that he is feeling the ribs and is reluctant to take a hit.
TPJ - Damn he's good, that one on one strip was poetry in motion.
Hass - Don't think you can have a much better debut in the front row as an 18 yr old. Very impressive. Good thing from the press conference is that Wayne implied he'd be on the bench for a few more weeks at least.
Isaako/Jimmy - Pretty poor, they need to work on their defence and communication. I think Jimmy is causing some of the issues for Isaako by compressing so much.
Milf - Kicking game has improved out of sight, still seems to forget what tackle we're on though and needs to work on game awareness.
Sua/Offa/Glenn - Really solid and not letting anyone down.
Bird - Better signs after his early stuff up
Oppa - Mixed bag, early days, but he seems solid.
Thaiday - Didn't give any stupid penalties away and ran with purpose.

Grew up on the Gold Coast, went to Keebra Park high scool.

But NSW have claimed him, or he chose NSW because he has been named in their development squad.

I'm pretty sure once you choose a state, that's it.
I don't think you get to choose. Didn't Keary say he wanted to play for qld, but how to go nsw because he left ipswich when he was 10. Think it is base on where your majority of schooling was after 13. Wonder what age Haas started at Keebra park.

No room for our Australian second rower when he comes back from his fractured vertebrae?

Watch out, you’ll have made a lifelong enemy in @Porthoz...

Sims has been trying hard, and I think starting him in the back row for the first 30 minutes of games has not suited him, and has stifled his stint in the middle as a result. Sua is clearly ready to play 80, and I think we will see more of Sims now that he can just put his efforts into his stint off of the bench in the middle. Hopefully we will continue to see him play like last night. Let's face it this and the game against the Tigers were his only two good games.

One thing I noticed from this game was how much better we looked when we had McGuire running that first receiver link play in attacking position. The way he takes the ball to the line with a bit of footwork and the ball in both hands really engages that defence freeing up space for our backs and I think these little things are what’s missing from our attack atm. We’re running VERY basic shape but we’re not doing the little things that need to be done to allow that to work.
