POST GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Isaako had some good moments and a bunch of moments that could have killed us too, with all the dropped balls. I'd imagine he'll probably survive, especially as we don't have anyone to replace him either. Oates has been abysmal on the wing, and Farnworth honestly doesn't seem particularly good either so far.

“..with all the dropped balls...”

Geez he dropped one bomb under pressure and one bad pass. He took plenty cleanly and ran the ball back with real effort.
Anyone would think he’s murdering children the hate in here

He made 3 errors which is a lot for a single player. Flegler made the same number of errors but no one will be defending his game (he didn't miss any tackles and ran the ball strongly).

One of those errors was a try saving catch that was stripped, earning us a penalty.

Seibold says:

"Alex is not real good. It’s his MCL (medial cruciate ligament), he will be in brace but he won’t need an operation, thankfully we’re not concerned about his ACL. It does sour our win in a lot of ways. ‘Lexi’ is our captain, he was strong defensively so we will miss him. The tackle got put on report, it was an awkward tackle, but Lexi felt the pop, he knew straight away he was in trouble.”

“Every team I have been a part of I have asked the leadership team to take ownership of some things. On Friday we had a team breakky and the players had a choice on what they wanted to do, but on our two big work days things didn’t change. I have been at the guys to take some ownership and it was pleasing they did that. The coaching staff have been encouraging ‘Milf’. He is a fantastic kicker of the footy, the more he kicks, the more effective we seem to be."

“I enjoy coaching Tevita, he is an enigma at times but I love coaching him, I set him the challenge of going through the middle which was pleasing. I remembered the team song. The win is a step in the right direction.”

Had to have been Lethal Weapon. His legs would be hanging too low

Well I’m 6 foot 6 and the only roller coaster I can’t go on due to my height and movieworld is Superman so if it isn’t that I call bullshit.

Literally nobody is saying he played poorly, a couple of us are just questioning whether he has the top speed to be anything close to a top tier fullback.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up as a centre, his body shape and style of running reminds me a lot of Michael Jennings.
Don’t forget KHunt was never a speed demon and he was elite.

edit: well that was addressed pretty well straight away. Should’ve read the thread first.

No....no he doesn't. Games like the other night is the best you'll see from Nui. Sure ...ran a lot of metres......but for what gain?

It's not only speed he lacks....foot work too.......and he has hands like Issako. He's a good enough fill in for now........we shouldn't be aspiring to settling for him as our long term fullback.

Ben Barba had ONE good season.....Dally M year....that's it.

I don't think he ever got close to that form again. He was 'good' in 2016, but the Sharks had so many points of attack all he had to do was play off the back of it. In 2012 he was the focal point of their attack and really had every opposition he came against spooked.

In saying that, his 2011 season was a sign of things to come. His first real season at fullback and he scores 23 tries, certainly nothing to sneeze at.

It's funny how so many people are saying we over-hype the kids when just as many of you are writing them off because they aren't immediately Teddy/Turbo/Cronk/Smith

I'd put it this way:

Great game - Haas, TPJ, Niu, Carrigan
Good game: Milf, Coates, Luke, Glenn, Oates, Boyd, Teo, Paix
Average game: Hoppa, Farnworth
Poor game: Flegler, Isaako, Croft
Sproj, seriously?
Croft DID NOT have a poor game. I'd go so far as to rate it quite good.
I watched the replay and watched every single second paying extreme attention to Croft. I mean his every single televised move. He only had one mistake, tackled like a demon and put in a deft kick for a six again.

He handled the ball more than any other player bar the dummy halves, Luke and Paix and had Fotala-Mariner run at him all night. He made 24 tackles and missed just the single tackle. It was a very strong and competent performance and I think he followed the teams plan perfectly.

I've read multiple posts on here pleading for Croft to be dumped for Dearden but Dearden most certainly hasn't produced as good a performance as Croft did last evening.

If anyone wants to dispute this I'd say, watch the replay before embarrassing yourself and pay attention to Croft. I hope he plays that well for the rest of the year. He most certainly won't be dropped for Dearden anytime soon and I bet Seibold thinks like I do.
