POST GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Tpj good.
Milf, haas not bad.
Coates had his moments.

Croft, isaako, flegler terrible.

Nice to win but we'll get smashed when we play a decent team.

Lol at seibold grinning like a moron on the sideline.
Croft had a fine game. 24 tackles, one miss, kicked for 267 metres, one try assist, perfect grubber for a line drop out and handled the ball more than any other Bronco bar the dummy halves, Paix and Luke. Can't do much more than that. 7 out of 10.

Ive been saying for ages that Croft is rubbish and probably has been one of the most disappointing players. He is terrible, awful kicking game, positionally poor, does nothing. Milford's kicking game is really really underrated and was great tonight.
Croft made 24 tackles with one miss but even that one he stopped the attacker but fell off enabling others to finish it off. Croft kicked once less than Milford but still kicked for 267 metres with Milford making just over 300 metres with an extra kick. One try assist, one grubber for a drop out and handled the ball more than any other Bronco bar the dummy halves.

Sproj, seriously?
Croft DID NOT have a poor game. I'd go so far as to rate it quite good.
I watched the replay and watched every single second paying extreme attention to Croft. I mean his every single televised move. He only had one mistake, tackled like a demon and put in a deft kick for a six again.

He handled the ball more than any other player bar the dummy halves, Luke and Paix and had Fotala-Mariner run at him all night. He made 24 tackles and missed just the single tackle. It was a very strong and competent performance and I think he followed the teams plan perfectly.

Fair dinkum I don't know what some of you guys are watching! That's not directed solely at you sproj because I've read multiple posts on here pleading for Croft to be dumped for Dearden but Dearden most certainly hasn't produced as good a performance as Croft did last evening.

If anyone wants to dispute this I'd say, watch the replay before embarrassing yourself and pay attention to Croft. I hope he plays that well for the rest of the year. He most certainly won't be dropped for Dearden anytime soon and I bet Seibold thinks like I do.

I think it's apparent that you have a completely different scale than everyone else when it comes to good and bad performances.

This circles back around to your extremely bizarre Boyd tangent last week. If 95%+ of the people on here believe Croft played poorly against the Dogs and you've formulated the exact opposite viewpoint (to essentially the entire forum, for the 2nd week running), what do you think that indicates?

Also, I find it hilarious that your leading argument for why our Halfback played well is 'He didn't play poorly, he made 24 tackles!'. 😂 I wish I had you as a teacher in school, very generous marker when it suits your seemingly random agenda of the week.

I don't give a **** about 90% of the forum thinking otherwise and it's extremely unlikely that percentage is accurate. What's apparent is many on here didn't watch the game with a dispassionate eye. It wasn't only his excellent defence but a try assist, 267 metres kicking, his positional play, again excellent as exemplified by hs great tackle stats and his beautiful grubber for a six again. He linked well with his players too.
I defy you to pick a moment where he played poorly.

I just watched the replay. Have you? I completely agree with @Huge. Watching the replay, without the hype and emotion of watching live gives you a better perspective. I certainly saw a lot I missed when watching live.

I actually watched to check out Croft and Nui. Croft wasn't perfect, but Croft was still very good, in the ways Huge observed and it was a lot more than just 24 tackles. I can see absolutely no reason why he should be dropped, but then I don't have an agenda about Croft like a lot on here do. I don't give a toss about the "95% of the people on here who believed" Croft was poor. Crap. He wasn't. And I think your remarks about Huge are way off, and maybe it's you who have an agenda instead.

As for some other observations, Paix was great. He was in everything defensively, tackled really well and was full of beans and his service out of dummy half was excellent. Talking about perspectives .. I recall one poster on here saying "he didn't even know Paix was out there". Well, maybe watch the replay.

I take back what I said about Nui. He shows so many qualities of a top tier FB it isn't funny. He is a lot quicker than I gave him credit in my other posts about him. He does have footwork as well. In fact, my one criticism of him is he uses it too much when he runs at the line. I'd rather he just takes the line on like Karmichael used to. Nevertheless, for mine, he is exactly what we need in our FB now and for the future.

It's fine to rant and rave during a live game. I know I do it. I do it a lot. But in the cold light of a replay, one can get a lot better perspective, and see things for what they really are.

I like Paix too and even Hoppa went okay. I watched Flegler and although he was a bit clumsy he tried hard and made one glorious tackle to save a try even though the commentators credited someone else. We really didn't have anyone who played poorly and sometimes I think there's just not enough of an attempt to take our bias into consideration.

We all have whipping boys and mines Milford but his performance was solid without being outstanding. What I do notice though is how some posters comments during and after a game are heavily influenced by the in game commentary. It's like they are simply too lazy to formulate their own thoughts!!

Appreciate your opening statements and I reckon a lot on here would change their minds about certain players (like Boyd for example) if they turned the sound off and just watched carefully, even rewinding to catch all the action. Last week I defended Boyd's game because it was quite good in a beaten side and this week he again went well. Plenty actually agree with me too it seems 😋

For mine, Paix was outstanding. His defence was just terrific and his service from dummy half crisp and effective. I actually much prefer him to Dearden in that role. I'd really like to see him play in the haves if the chance arises. After watching Paix, I sometimes wonder if Dearden is a little over-hyped given the very limited number games we have seen him play. Maybe it's because of the anti-Croft and anti-Milford agendas ... um, @Huge 😀 ?

As for Milford, his kicking game was all class. He controlled the game well with his kicking. The short kick for Isaako's try, his chip and chase, tricky bombs. All that remains now is for him to integrate better with the rest of our spine so we can see more of an effective running game.

The Bulldogs game was exactly what the team needed to rise up from the ashes so to speak. The hope now is that the revival continues.

Croft was average, his only involvement in a try was when he Passed the ball to niu who passed it to Isaako, Halfbacks are supposed to be involved heavily in attack, thats why they defend on a edge.

I wouldn't say it's the end of the world but the way he is playing I don't see much points coming from his plays at all.

Fair enough but he was involved in an attacking grubber which pinned them in goal. He played his role in the try out wide. Who put up the perfectly weighted bomb for Xavier Coates? Unfortunately there was a slight knock on from Coates but had he not knocked on that would have been another try assist, yes? That seems involved to me, wouldn't you agree? Perhaps it was the newly developed game plan to free up Milford?

Between Milford and Croft they kicked 21 times with Milford kicking 11 times. Milfords kick for Isaako was magic, perfect position and weight but equally Croft's kick for Coates was also spot on. Croft had a good all round game and was better than average, whether you agree or not.

Perhaps the perpetrator should be penalised the same amount of time his victim has to serve.

Absolutely. It was fucking reckless and dangerous. Doesn't matter if it was above or below the knees. Glenn was held, off balance and vulnerable. He should have been sent off.

Corey Oates did an interview with Erin Molan and Sam.
Interesting points he made about the players taking over this week:

- the halves prefer to play eyes up football and decided to return to that this week. Corey much preferred Milf getting back to playing this way

- Corey’s preferred position is in the second row.

- TPJ had been asking to play in the front row for a few weeks now and this week Seibold finally allowed it.

- When asked what Seibold actually did this week Corey said “he still over saw training.”

So Croft didn't get a try assist ???

Corey wants to be the first ever second-row winger, that's his preferred position.

Stoked to see the boys finally get a win.. what that will do for the spirits and confidence of this team (especially young blokes) can't be understated.

Without wanting to be negative, though, I honestly felt we were no better this week than we were in previous games.

The Bulldogs were objectively TERRIBLE and easily the worst side we've faced (and are likely to face) this year.

I think all the one-out running, poor defence and CONSTANT errors we've seen in previous week were still there, and I think any other team would have made us pay. There were some good moments (Oates barging over, TPJ Offloading, discipline was better), but as a whole I think it's hard to say we have really improved on previous weeks, and if we offer the same up against the Tigers I think we are in trouble....
