POST GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

I don't give a **** about 90% of the forum thinking otherwise and it's extremely unlikely that percentage is accurate. What's apparent is many on here didn't watch the game with a dispassionate eye. It wasn't only his excellent defence but a try assist, 267 metres kicking, his positional play, again excellent as exemplified by hs great tackle stats and his beautiful grubber for a six again. He linked well with his players too. You just didn't watch the game and just like a leaf in the wind you go with whatever the more strident spout.
I defy you to pick a moment where he played poorly.

The fact of the matter is you really just don't know what good Rugby League is anymore, you're out of touch. You're citing 267 kicking metres like it's some amazing net-positive attribute. Would you like to know how many kick metres he had per-game over our 6 consecutive record breaking losses?..

You guessed it, 275 kicking metres per game.

I would highly recommend you watch more than just our game per week, broaden your horizons. If you think Croft's performance was 'quite good' then you simply don't watch enough Rugby League.

He did get one but he would have had TWO if Coates had cleanly caught the ball.
He's actually had a few instances earlier this year where the kick chaser fumbled it over the line or in the in goal. I'm sure Boyd was one of them and I'm just trying to remember who was responsible for the other one.

Stoked to see the boys finally get a win.. what that will do for the spirits and confidence of this team (especially young blokes) can't be understated.

Without wanting to be negative, though, I honestly felt we were no better this week than we were in previous games.

The Bulldogs were objectively TERRIBLE and easily the worst side we've faced (and are likely to face) this year.

I think all the one-out running, poor defence and CONSTANT errors we've seen in previous week were still there, and I think any other team would have made us pay. There were some good moments (Oates barging over, TPJ Offloading, discipline was better), but as a whole I think it's hard to say we have really improved on previous weeks, and if we offer the same up against the Tigers I think we are in trouble....
I understand how it might seem that way but we were actually better than you think especially with an eye to the errors. We had 17 I think but 6 of them came from just two players. Imagine if Isaako and Flegler had their normal game, the errors would likely have only been 13 or even 12 and that is Roosters, Melbourne, Parra level. Despite the hate on here Isaako and Flegler don't rate that badly for errors but last game they contributed quite a few.

Last week we only had 12 in a losing effort to the Warriors so although important the errors are not necessarily the deciding factor in games. In fact if you go back through our 6 game losing streak you'll see we haven't been too bad at all. Average is around 11 during that time.

I know when( field position, time of match etc)a team makes an error is important but the perception we make a huge number of errors is not accurate. It's combination, poise, control and rhythm where we are lacking and a youthful and inexperienced team is a big part of that. The future is still bright.

Croft wasn't perfect, but Croft was still very good, in the ways Huge observed and it was a lot more than just 24 tackles. I can see absolutely no reason why he should be dropped, but then I don't have an agenda about Croft like a lot on here do. I don't give a toss about the "95% of the people on here who believed" Croft was poor. Crap. He wasn't.

I disagree with most of those things, he was poor. He's been poor nearly every game this season if you'd like to extrapolate this discussion over the entire season for a more reliable sample size. I could find 20+ halves in the NRL who have had more positive influence than him at the drop of a hat. This guy was supposed to be our game manager, the only thing he's managed is showing that he's not quite up to the task.

I was 30 when I watched the Broncos win their first Grand Final in 1992. I was at the game. Even then I'd seen more football than you. Even played the game. You haven't rewatched the game and just like last week you get it wrong and just like Trump, you double down on the stupid.

I exposed your Boyd hate last week and showed where you introduced Boyd into the Oates thread but rather than man up you deleted the post. You do have an agenda and it seems as though I'm the focus. Ban yourself this week.

Nope, that won't do! You're contradicting Unbreakable's narrative. Prepare to be banned.

So, is that two old guys who 'haven't seen enough football'? Starting to see a trend here.

I'm sure you had a decent understanding back in the day, unfortunately age catches up with everyone. Nearly every one of your takes over the last few years has been laughably incorrect.

The only thing you exposed in that Boyd discussion was just how out of touch you are, I'm sorry to say. To make things even more hilarious, Boyd had a decent game on the weekend and your comment about him was:

Funnily enough I hadn't noticed him that much aside from a couple decent tackles.

I would argue that Saturday night was his best game of the season. Ran for the most metres he's run all season and was rock solid defensively. Even when there's a W served to you on a silver platter you manage to shoot yourself in the foot. 😂

p.s - I didn't say you 'haven't watched enough football' (past tense), I said you 'don't watch enough football' (present tense). Easy mistake to make.

After last weeks attack on me I thought it best to leave Boyd to one side. I did think Boyd played well again but I didn't pay as much attention to him and unlike yourself I rewatched the game and confirmed my earlier thoughts on Boyd.

It seems as though winning a game colours your judgement whereas I can fairly judge a performance in a losing performance. That's where age generally helps. Ever wondered why court judges need the wisdom of age? Even the youngest of judges goes to the older ones to seek perspective and clarity, something you could learn from.
