POST GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Paix is coming along quite nicely. I like the look of him. If his confidence keeps growing, I think he'll be a very handy player

what is his role at the club long term? Bench hooker for ever? Dropped when Turpin returns? Eventually usurping Turpin? Moved to the halves?

I’m a fan of his and he’s playing well but I don’t see him sticking around.

I tend to think he'll leap frog Turpin in a couple of years. As much as I love his heart, Turpin is pretty limited in ability.

Corey knows.

I'm surprised he didn't drop the ball, out of shock of course, when he got that great cut out pass from Luke when he scored his try.

As for Darius and try assists, it would help if we played his side a bit more than we do AND he stops his habit of running into the middle.

I understand his signed till the end of '22. The way he played on Saturday is telling me he has a lot of talent, a lot of potential. From the little I have read about him, he models his game on Cooper Cronk. If he has any of Cronk's talents as a game manager, I somehow don't think we've seen the last of him in the top side.

As for Turps, I am keen to see his running and passing game, and how well he manages the middle. Of course, like Paix, he's great in defence. Good to see we have some quality in our depth in the halves and hooking role.

I'm really not sure how Paix has leap frogged Turpin.

Sure, he had a good game against Bulldogs, but prior to that he was struggling.

Prior to that, how many games has he had, and, he's only 20 and, on his performance on Saturday, he's clearly no longer struggling

I think Turpin will walk back in to the side.

Paix's next opportunity may come if the halves keep struggling, I'd be interested to see how he goes in the 6 jersey tbh. If both halves keep plodding along I'm all for testing out a Paix/Dearden halves combination for a bit.

It's far too early to say he has adapted to the role and can handle being an NRL hooker. Playing off the bench against a struggling Bulldogs side, not really a good indication of where he's at in his development.

I'm yet to see anything that shows he has overtaken Turpin, or even Luke for that matter.

You don't give up, do you.

Our halves are not plodding, they are growing and developing. How well remains to be seen. If they fail it's good to know we have quality in our young ones, to cover halves and hooker.

What he did on Saturday was all quality. I'm not saying he has overtaken Turpin. I can't say that. I haven't seen enough of Turpin in this team, this year. In any case, Turpin is 1st choice in the hooker bench rotation, no arguments there, with Luke. It's just good to know we have quality back up

Played really well against manly too then got injured. He’s picked it up quickly.

Tf do you mean not plodding? Prior to the last game neither of them had fired a single shot in 6 consecutive weeks.

If they DO actually improve I have no issue keeping them in the halves. If they revert back to dishing up the sorts of efforts they were prior to the Dogs game, changes need to be made. Surely you don't disagree with that..

The whole team has been dishing up crap in all sorts of ways until things started to come together on Saturday, and that does include our halves. I am saying it is unfair and premature to target anyone yet as struggling or plodding to the extent they need to be dropped, when the entire side has been finding its feet.

I've been as savage as anyone in my criticisms of various individual players, and the coach, however I have always taken a longer term view in the context of where this side has come from, where it is and where it is heading.

If in say, 2 or 3 weeks, individuals keep struggling and not delivering in terms of individual performances, then sure, it will be time to give others a go, Croft and Milford included. However for mine, now is way too early for that.

Not picking on you particularly and not trying to be condescending but that horrible thing has happened again! What you ask? It's the word straight after 'revert' !!! It's never ever the word 'back'. It's a bit like PIN number.

Oh, it looks like I haven't understood what a try assist is if only the last pass counts. I remember Coynes incredible try in Origin and the passes and contributions involved and if only the last pass counts then try assists really don't mean squat! Anyway, another thing learned and another mistake made! Every days a school day.

SRSLY....??

:rofl
