Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing Kahu at fullback, if he sees an overlap and passes or sees room for a kick and kicks he'll already be better than Hoffman there.

Where have all you BHQ gleaned your very high opinions of Kahu from?

Has he ripped it up in QCup or Under 20s?

Solid is the highest I can put his performances so far. Stop willing him to be Gagai, cause he isn't.

He's slightly more solid than Maranta, but I'd rather have a specialist winger (Maranta) playing there over a player whose third choice position is wing (Kahu).

Kahu has made some bad flat footed decisions in defence already this season.

One of the big Eels wingers (Toutai or Sio) is going to have a field day if he continues to sit on his heels and wait.

Maranta isn't even a specialist winger.

Maranta a specialist? The only thing he is special at is eating pies so his gut increases. I don't know why I don't like him, maybe it's his weird head. Plus he is no where near as sexy as Kahu.

Someone who specialises in something.........

Fair point. Personally I have seen very little of him.

I saw some good things in the trials and I like the way in both the games he has played in the NRL this year he steadily improved as the game wore on.

Seen him throw a couple of really nice passes. Not expecting him to set the world on fire but my instincts tell me that when he is fully fit and has regained the confidence that would naturally be lost after suffering long terms injuries such as he has, that he's got something to offer

more than some of the other u/20's that have come through lately.

Good call..Maranta was fullback for under 20s and centre in the qrl

He played plenty of wing in the 20's. Centre or five-eigth for Norths and fullback for Qld and Aus last year although he had to pull out of the Test.

I'm still hopeful that Maranta will become a good player eventually. It's obvious that he isn't ready for weekly first grade yet, and that his confidence is lower than the Eels position on the ladder. Hopefully he uses his experience in FG to improve as a player while in QLD Cup.

He definitely has show that he has vision, repeatedly. But he's so rough it's hard to tell if he will improve. Look at Macca, you would think by now he should be showing improvement, but he isn't. By the way, Hunt has been getting more and more play time taking some away from Macca. Don't be too surprised if Griffin does bench him and start Hunt.

I just wish it would be one of the young up and coming hookers instead of Hunt. Yes I am aware that it may be risky and from what Splinter says Baptiste tends to not putt 100% in. The problem I see is that Macca may improve his game if he thinks he's going to lose his spot, which has happened before, but the moment he becomes the incumbent he reverts back. I think if it hasn't happened by now (Macca improving consistently) it may never happen.

You must'nt have watched the Qcup game on sunday, first 9 minutes of the game baptiste put on 2 tries and the way he was playing.. if that wasnt 100% I dont know what is

How did he play for the other 71 minutes?

How did he play for the other 71 minutes?

Didn't. He played so well for that 9 minutes that he feigned a shoulder injury and decided he'd done his work. But seriously, when he's 100% fit, he should be our bench hooker.

I hate to sound like a doomsdayer but i've got a bad feeling about this game.

The Eels haven't played too bad lately and have improved a lot from the start of the year.

We'll need to really play well to beat them down there .... no taking the foot off the pedal at all for the full 80 minutes.

I really hope to see some better attacking moves this week, although i know this won't happen.

If we win, it'll be by 6 or less IMO.

The Eels once a month effort was expended last week against the Cowboys.
