Round 9 - Penrith Panthers - Pre Game discussion

Maybe if Boyd does come back, he will play from the bench. It's what Bennett did with Lockyer when he was coming back from a serious injury.

Preferably on the wing in his first game back.

At any rate, I am still worried about bringing him back too early. We are doing well as it is, and even better when Kahu returns. It's not exactly like we desperately need Boyd NOW and risk serious damage if he is under-done.

Predicting kahu to be back. But to play right wing. .? Seeming as though boyd is about a week or two away, perhaps maranta will just stay where he is. .?

1. Maranta
2. Oates
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Kahu

Then..

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Kahu

I dream about a side without Reed ... But i won't believe it until i see the side run out on the field without him.

I didn't mind him on the wing actually. But i don't think his rubbing game would be as good as kahu's. Kahu in my mind has earned a spot in the backs

I can't see Boyd being back.

The return date that was set was Round 11 I think and I can't see it being any earlier than that. I think the Broncos will be cautious and give him a bit more time even if he could come back next week.

I'm expecting this side.

1. Kahu
2. Reed
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Maranta
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Blair
11. Gillett
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Wallace
15. Garbutt
16. Oates
17. Nikorima

Oates to the bench. Garbutt and Wallace the bench props.

I think so too.

But with Glenn out and Kahu coming back, I can see Bennett shifting Oates from the wing to the bench.

Penrith Panthers
Brent Kite (broken leg, Round 15)
Jamie Soward (back, Round 9)
Peter Wallace (knee, Round 12)
Jamal Idris (knee, season)

James Segeyaro (elbow, TBC)

Feeling a lot more confident about winning this game now then what I would've been at the start of the year but Penrith will still be hard to beat.

Maybe Joey O instead of Garbutt.

If Boyd returns during the Origin season, I suspect he'd be an automatic inclusion for Qld, especially if we lose game 1. So him returning early does not benefit the Broncos too much, he'll be missing half the games anyway. Right or wrong, I think Bennett will "play it safe" and wait until Origin is over to bring him in.

If Kahu does come back, he's an automatic selection at fullback IMO. Maranta still has the wood over Oates in that he's safe (at least that's what I suspect, going off the team selections the last couple of weeks). I can't see anything but:

Kahu
Maranta
Copley
Hodges
Reed

Wonder if Gus can fly the Pantherette cheerleaders up for the game  . So much quality. Cowboys brought down their mascot (first time I've seen an opposition mascot fwiw)
