It's not about Inglis being better than Reed, that's obvious. It's who we have to lose to get him. Our team is very good right now, there's no sense in losing 2-4 good players to get one good but past his prime player. Let the Rabbitohs fund his retirement.

Maybe Gillet is demanding more than he's worth? Wayne is known for moving on forwards who demand big coin. I love Gillet, don't get me wrong, but if some idiot club like the Tigers or gc are offering him a ridiculous sum we might have to cut our losses. I'd rather move on Glenn, but if he's committed to the club so be it.

He will still be on significant money ... the NRL will block any move to sign a player of Inglis' standing unless he is on significant coin..
as i said before ... don't want him.

If he is busted and broken then he needs to rest up and then come back when he is fully fit. The best part of his game is his defence and of late it has been very average. You can't drop someone after one bad game, but the way I see it is that Reed should be playing fully fit or not at all.

He's been busted and broken since his second season to be fair, he's incredibly injury prone.

I don't really see how Reed has good defence. He's actually quite bad. If you get on his outside, you are pretty much guaranteed a try if Oates doesn't rush in to save it. Also he jams in too much with Milford, and then still struggles on his inside just as much as his outside. Pretty much unless you runs straight at him, he's quite poor at defending. Reminds me of how Gillett used to be, but Gillett had an easier position to defend in (in terms of positioning and area). .

Since you're outrightly refuting the statement, why don't you provide some evidence to the contrary. Reed gets outclassed by any centre worth a damn, probably at least 8-10 opposing centres. So when there's up to a 50% chance you're 'defensive centre' will get beaten (and when he does, it's badly), then that's an issue.
Sure that left side is a lot weaker than our right, which if I'm not mistaken, hasn't conceded a try yet this year. Glenn I feel can be a bit too arm-grabby still and Milf is doing his best (and getting better) so surely Reed should be compensating and being better than he is, but he isn't.

I have to prove that he makes tackles? I mean let's talk about his missed tackle count then. It's certainly not a 50% chance he will miss a tackle. Reed has barely been outclassed by any centre in defense and the only two who have made him look bad were Morgan and Ferguson who aimed their attack at Milford. I'm also curious to know how many times an opposition centre has run around him over the last year and a half which is something I feel you need to prove as you're the one making the claim. I've asked it before and it seems to get missed every time.

I feel Reeds defence is at its best when letting a player get on his outside.... He is quite good at giving his opposite that space and then closing it quickly.
Where he really struggles is against an opposing centre with good, or any, footwork. He is quite often, most times actually, beaten on the inside, or beaten with footwork. Plants his feet very early.
He does work hard on his defence in this particular area though, and it remains a real weak spot for him.
