[Rumour] The Hunt for Karmichael's return to Broncos.

Depends on your definition of "quite a few" and "stars", only 1 was considered good enough for the train on squad ( a few 18yo's from other teams made the squad and at least one 17yo so age of your players is irrelevant) and even more damning only 3 were worthy of u20s Qld team this year.

Not sure how your u18s and 16s are though so could be a few good ones coming through them that I'm not aware of.

Wasnt trying to be a smart arse just don't expect too much from your current u20s unless they are late bloomers, I think H/O knows this hence your shopping spree, investing in Logan and pinching Edwards.

If you bothered to do your research, you'd find that the majority of our decent 19 and 20yo's have been shifted over to the Q Cup. The U20's has been useless at giving an accurate reflection about player's potential to succeed in the NRL. Sure, some U20's Origin players have been chosen out of Q-Cup as well as the NYC, but in the State league they're less likely to stand out from the crowd since it's a stronger, more defence-based comp.

Canberra are most likely yet to realise this - especially since the whole 'hiccup' where they couldn't send their players up here to be blooded. In true Ricky form, I'm sure he'll be declaring every 20yo Holden Cup hero as the NRL's next sure thing, throw them half a million dollar contracts, then wonder why his teams are still collecting wooden spoons.

Heard a whisper from my mate who has a slight affiliation with the cowboys club that Karmichael is returning to NRL in 2015 and that brisbane are the front runners but Gold Coast have said they are gonna try their hardest to jag him

Interesting. I can honestly say I am massively on the fence about his possible return. K was one of my favourite players before he left and 6 months ago I would have been stoked to hear he might be coming back, but now I just don't know. My biggest question is where would he play? and if we signed him does that mean we have given up on the likes of DCE and Milford?

If they are planning on signing him I can only imagine we are no chance of getting DCE and they are thinking something like both hunts in the halves (if we don't get milford) or maybe hunt at fullback, barba 6??? god knows?

The only other thing I can think of is they view him as a direct replacement for hodgo in the centres

Either way I just can't see the broncos forking up big dollars for him, it's not our style. I can see him getting a much better pay packet down the M1. But I agree, I have no idea where griffin would put him. I definitely wouldn't want Milford in the centres over hunt though, sorry old mate. Maybe if Benny Hunt just doesn't cut it at half back?

You can't overlook his sheer athletic ability. He's a sportsman and a competitor who'd do reasonable well at anything he tried his hand at

He'd have to be a depth signing to start with and see where his strengths lie after 3 years out of the game. You'd need a tactical coach like Bellamy to find him a role in 2015's NRL.

One of the strongest aspects to his game was his physicality from fullback. A complete overhaul of his body which will absolutely detract from that. The other thing that will be missing from 2015 NRL at the Broncos, Qld and Australia is Darren Lockyer, whose combination no doubt had a big part is K's career.

But on the flip side, he is much fitter and probably more agile and with a better kicking game. He's older, smarter and able to use contact more judiciously.

Unlike Folau coming back to wing/fullback, 5/8 in Rugby League is such a key role.

He was a tough and smart rugby league player. You'd have to find a sport for him in your 17.. Maybe in 6, maybe in 13, or maybe in 14 as a utility/relief/trouble maker role around the 30 and 60 minute mark.

I seem to recall plenty of cut outs and sneaky grubbers for tries from him, a lot more than someone like Hoffman has done.
yeh cause hoffman is the one thing standing between hunt and a broncos starting spot...... lol

dally m medallist ben barba is 10x the player hunt is in every facet of the game. hoffman is a better winger than hunt could ever hope to be. a dead rat is a better half than hunt could ever be. mccullough, as rubbish as he is, is a better hooker than hunt could ever be.

Don't get AP started on another one of his 'Karmichael Hunt is shit' rants
I don't agree that he's shit but I do agree with he's saying. Khunt really doesn't have a spot in our team.

He's not a half.
We have a better fullback in Barba (IMO)
He's a waste of money on the centres or wings as Hoffman is better and any other wing/centre option we have is way cheaper
He's not a hooker (ok maybe he is :001_tongue:) so no point signing him for that position
He'd be useless as a forward of any kind
He'd be overpaid as a utility and I'm sure he wouldn't be happy with 30 minutes a game.

So really I don't want to see Hunt in a Broncos jersey again. Now if he agrees to come back for less than 300k, I'd take him but he'll probably want above 500k in which case I see no value in him.

I wouldn't be too concerned with this rumour. I mean the Broncos may end up throwing him a life line back into the NRL but it will not be for much money let me tell you, he would have to come very cheap.

As I said earlier in this thread apart from Idris and the halves I don't rate the Titans back-line very much and I expect them to sign anyone with attacking ability.

A full strength Titans back-line with Hunt in it

1: Hunt
2: Mead
3: Idris
4: Takarangi
5: Gordon
6: Sezer
7: Kelly
