Depends on your definition of "quite a few" and "stars", only 1 was considered good enough for the train on squad ( a few 18yo's from other teams made the squad and at least one 17yo so age of your players is irrelevant) and even more damning only 3 were worthy of u20s Qld team this year.
Not sure how your u18s and 16s are though so could be a few good ones coming through them that I'm not aware of.
Wasnt trying to be a smart arse just don't expect too much from your current u20s unless they are late bloomers, I think H/O knows this hence your shopping spree, investing in Logan and pinching Edwards.
If you bothered to do your research, you'd find that the majority of our decent 19 and 20yo's have been shifted over to the Q Cup. The U20's has been useless at giving an accurate reflection about player's potential to succeed in the NRL. Sure, some U20's Origin players have been chosen out of Q-Cup as well as the NYC, but in the State league they're less likely to stand out from the crowd since it's a stronger, more defence-based comp.
Canberra are most likely yet to realise this - especially since the whole 'hiccup' where they couldn't send their players up here to be blooded. In true Ricky form, I'm sure he'll be declaring every 20yo Holden Cup hero as the NRL's next sure thing, throw them half a million dollar contracts, then wonder why his teams are still collecting wooden spoons.
