[Rumour] The Hunt for Karmichael's return to Broncos.

Hunt was outstanding at fullback and would have excelled in any position suitable for his build. He was the equal of Slater if both players were to have their best game. Hunt left the game at a time when he had achieved everything on offer but I'd dare say he would have been a Hall of Famer if such a thing exists in our game. Slater is certainly no better nor worse, he is however a different kind of fullback. Comparison is odious but both are Qld legends. I wished he had of stayed in league. We probably would have won lots of Origins with him in the side,oh wait !

I still think Hunt was better than Slater before he left. MUCH more reliable, and a far better ball player. Now Slater has improved since then (though he is still fairly unreliable at times), but who knows what Hunt would have been like in the future.

This argument always seems to come up in BHQ every now and then.
its impossible to argue these things. I mean, every fullback in the reserve grade competition these days would be better than Clive Churchill was in 1950 but they will never play against each other so who cares. Churchill was the best during his time, karmichael was the best during his. The game evolves and so do the players.

Not sure about the example but I get where you are coming from cultofpersanality3 .
Personally I'd have Slater over Hunt but I'm happy to live with his mistakes to have his brilliant match winning talents

I used to love the understanding between Slater and the crowd in attack. He always delivered perfect passes to them with no one in front of them (except for more crowd).

No-one has rewritten history and who has an agenda? Don't be so stupid.

Slater is more than a class above Khunt and your tin foil paranoia wont change that.

Paranoia? What the hell? Also why don't you lay off the insults there champ

Claims of hunt being miles of slater when they were both playing league are ridiculous

It was actually Matt Bowen that I think who Hunt replaced as QLD fullback. Bowen was fullback in Game 1 of 2006 before being overlooked for Hunt to make his debut in the second game. He missed the decider due to injury with Clinton Schifcofske filling in.

Hunt was fullback again in 2007 for all three games. Slater was fullback in game one of 2008 with Hunt partnering Thurston in the halves. There was a lot of talk about this in the media as many (myself included) thought Prince should have got a spot. I was highly critical of that team in game one as there were some puzzling choices (including PJ Marsh, whom I'm a fan of but hadn't played much football to warrant an Origin call-up). It seemed like a bit of arrogance was creeping into team selections after successive series wins. We got things back on track for the second game with Prince being recalled, Hunt starting and Slater reverting to the bench.

In terms of who's better - I think they both had similar styles with ball playing. I think the most obvious difference was their running games and kick returns. Hunt evolved into a real kamikaze style runner who launched himself into the defensive line. He was very tough and often got our sets off to a great start for Brisbane and QLD. It's what Hoffman tries to do but can't. Slater relies more on his speed and evasiveness when running the ball. In terms of consistency, Slater is hard to beat though. Honestly, I'd have to check the photo at the finish line.

^^ lol not sure if spelling error or having a dig :P

Nah, not hard to work out what I typed but blame the sausage fingers and using an iphone while drinking bundy.
cp3, no foul intended if you happened to see that.:shot:

Although now I find it hard to read it any other way :p

Ben Ikin said on NRL 360 tonight that Milford and Karmichael Hunt WILL be the Broncos halves in 2015.

Interesting!

Apparently Hunt doesn't love the Broncos anymore. I doubt he would take less money to play for a club he doesn't love anymore..

It was an article I saw when googling Karmichael Hunt once.

Apparently he left because of what happened with Bennett and he didn't like the way things were ran after that. His love for the Broncos died in 2009 and he isn't as big a fan as he used to be.

I'll try to find the article.

Yes, this is common knowledge but with Bennett possibly coming back next year, all will be forgiven.

Okay so my memory has failed me. He didn't actually say he doesn't love the Broncos anymore. However, he did say that the meeting in 2009 ended his days as a diehard Broncos fan and player.

Culture change at Broncos forced Hunt out

Given the way things are now, do people believe Hunt will sign with us after what he says in that article?

That was written in 2011, things haven't changed much since then.

He still talks to all the players here on Instagram and that shit. His issues were with Cullen and Henjak and last I checked they are not around

He didn't say they "Will" be, he just made an educated guess, which is fair enough, there's been plenty of speculation about him coming back, our interest in him, etc.
