[RUMOUR] Todd Lowrie ---> Broncos

He's also been linked to Panthers, & Gould tweeted this

"@PenrithPanthers members should keep their eyes on their INBOX .. #justsaying
It wouldn't make sense for them either, but at least Penrith have a history of these kind of signings. Ivan Cleary has a fever. And the only prescription is more backrowers.

Any truth to the rumour that he's signing a second tier deal?

I wouldn't be opposed to that.

wtf is the story with his "urgent need to relocate" ? Is the location he supposedly needs to relocate to specified because there's a pretty big gulf between Brisbane and Bumfuck Idaho Sydney ...

I've read on social media from a few warriors fans that his child has been diagnosed with Autism and they need to relocate to an area with the relevant services (schooling, support services etc). Not sure if this is true or not as the rumour is coming from ordinary fans/supporters.

Dunno why everyone is against this without knowing his price. He could be very cheap and would stop macca playing second row during origin. Not every signing has to be someone playing in the 17 don't know why people dont understand this squads are 25 men. We clearly need more depth in the backrow considering we have three origin 2rf. During origin now we will have stagg, Glenn, lowrie and Oates. With two of Kennedy hannant and moose in addition to Dodds our forwards should be okay with the rumored backline signings we might even be able to field a team worthy of first grade.

Not sure about the Panther signing as Gould just tweeted the other day that the Panthers were done in terms of signing new players. Also there is no connection with Cleary and Lowrie at the Warriors. Cleary left end of 2011 and Lowrie was signed mid 2012.

If you think Lowrie is a 50 tackles a game tacklebot then your in for a surprise. He averaged 31.4 tackles a game (3rd behind Friend and Mannering) with us. Not a dominant tackler and relies on Storm wrestling tactics that always got him pinged at the Warriors. A ref was overheard telling Lowrie that he wasnt at the Storm anymore! He got a bad rap for giving away penalties but he did clean up his act towards the back end of the season. He averaged 0.52 penalties (7th) and 0.48 errors (16th) a game

If your team is on a roll down the middle then the last thing you want to do is pass it to Lowrie. He has no impact at the line and gets dominated easily. More often then not he gets pushed back. He averaged 6.6m per run ranking 27th out of 28 players last year at an average 9.5 runs per game. Again, no impact.

He's a good clubman and a good a dependable journeyman but wont light the Broncos club alight.

Anyway, again, thanks for taking him off us...

Awesome points and something I didn't think about before my rant. I think I saw lowrie to broncos, thought it meant Parker to penrith and lost my shit lol.

Great post!

he was doing pretty well early in the year wasn't he? For the first half of the year he was making something like 40 tackles a game when he was still getting a lot of minutes. seems like a useful player but I don't see why we need him.

If he isn't in our top 25 in terms of the salary cap, it's fine. If he is in the 25, we've already got players who can do his role but better.
If we lose Parker, heads must roll.
That is all.

My only question surrounding this is, WHY?

Yep if we lost Parker out of this, there would be a riot!! I'd go down and graffiti Red Hill myself.

I just don't like the way he goes in hard at the legs of players being held. He is one of a small number that go in too hard in my view

yeah, seems like a Storm thing to do. Lima is another ex-Storm player who cannons into the legs when a player is held. ugly, ugly look for the game and quite unsafe.

Lowrie was probably coming home for very good reasons. I have no doubt there is a serious issue behind this decision and even though I'm unsure as to what it is I wish him well. It does sound like a family related thing. If we have signed him it will be with a purpose in mind. The broncos did some recent soul searching so I'd say they were doing things with clear intent.

Glad he's leaving the Warriors we are tackling secound row skinny forwards a plenty , it frees up a spot for one of the fabled bug Warriors Forwards that frankly don't exist anymore.

Lowrie depending on how much he was signed for is a solid signing not much else.
