Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

Its nothing like the same thing. Byes are fact. IF bulldogs lost.... is a hypothetical. Others on here are right. You are sarcastically
Rude and an out and out pessimist

Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot.

B&B is right though. It's a bit of a false economy at this time of year with byes. In the past, some teams have even had two byes before others had one which made them look a lot better than they actually were.

the biggest question here is how many of us would be happy if we finished 4th? because by all reports if griffin gets us to 4th then his job his garanteed. im not saying i wouldnt love us to finish 4th its just a odd situation isnt it. and if we do finish 4th does that mean griffin is a better coach then any of us fans give him credit for? :hail:

I think it's a no brainer in large part. If the coach gets the team to play the footie we saw v Manly, and it gets better, and we make the 4, then perhaps the criticisms of Griffin are largely unwarranted and he should stay.

exactly. if we get to fourth playing more games the way we played on sunday, then im happy to eat my words and griffin stay.

i dont know what it was, but we looked like a changed side against manly.

you add milford to that mix and its a very good side.

fingers crossed it continues.

If Hook can get this team to the 4, I'll gladly call him a fair sort of coach.
They'll just need to play consistently to the standard that they did on Sunday, though.

i think if we made it to 4th (and by 4th, i mean, knocked out in the prelims, 1 win away from making the GF), then we'd all be pretty excited about next season with milford arriving.

but yes. all depends on continuing the type of footy we played on sunday

As everyone has already said if he keeps them playing that sort of footy (where did that come from) and we make the top 4 I'll be glad to keep and take back everything I have said about him

it is quite easy to look at it and say "hmm, andrew gee gone.. next week - great performance by the team".

every time I see this thread at the top of the 'broncos talk' list ....

What if we make the top 4 by playing "boring griffinball" ?

well no one likes boring football but what if by some small chance we win the grand final playing griffinball. wayne bennett did it with st george so its not imppossible.

im sure even though that kind of footy puts you to sleep every one on here wouldnt give 2 hoots if our boys were holding up the trophy at the end

Maybe form has had more to do with Andrew Gee's involvement, than Hook's. Nobody likes having to fight for money that they have already earned. If Gee was irresponsible in handling players financial welfare (considering duty of care), how far did this incompetence reach? Does this also extend to the staff he employed?

Gee could have been the elephant in the dressing room. If all was uneasy in there it certainly could affect performances and cause problems between players and Griffin as he was caught in the middle

NO CHANCE

Why? To be honest I didn't see too much different with the Manly game compared to others except that our Griffinball was actually effective. The offloads, the grubbers to the in-goal, Copley's footwork, it's all been there all year, it just either hasn't come off or the opposition has denied up the opportunities to utilise it.

if Griffin gets us into the top 4 he deserves to stay on as our coach in 2015, and i'm someone who wanted him gone but results speak for themselves and should be rewarded.

I'm all for Nolan to take over as the main guy for recruitment and retention. Building the correct mix of a squad to win a permiership is still an area of improvement for Griffin.

A combination of someone with good footy nous building the squad and then Griffin coaching them could be a successful combo.

To me, most simply, Griffinball is 4 or 5 one out hit ups and kick - usually poorly, or just pass the ball wide and hope Hodges does something special.

The game v Manly was vastly different to that, and for mine, easily the best game we have played all year.

What was it ... 14 offloads by players other than Parker and Gillett? Forwards passing the ball consistently for 80 minutes? Regular support play? Quality kicking game?

That ain't Griffinball as I understand it, based on past efforts, and the proof was on the scoreboard against the equal best team in the comp.

The question now is whether we do it consistently every game while continually improving which is the hallmark of a quality side (which I think we are).

Kudos to Griffin if this continues...

I am a well known Griffin basher but if he gets us to the top 4 he deserves to coach us again next season. If he can get us to play similar footy to what we did on Sunday in all our matches we might be a fair chance of the top 4 position he needs to survive.

what a diffrence a couple of weeks in the nrl can do two coach gone griffin looking ok for now
