Interesting Hook interview from Peter Psaltis

What caught my ear:

Ben Hannant is a good chance of being right. We'll get confirmation around Thursday/Friday.

Mention of the long term plans - Jayden Nikorima was one name mentioned.

Broncos are in the market for a star. Just don't want it to play out in the media but when deals are sorted the media will know all about it.

I know the news is hardly exclusive, but it's good to hear it from the horses mouth.

Griffin sounds like the coach of an under 14c team that is trying to win its first game for three years in that interview ... Mind you Peter Psaltis' line of questioning was a total laugh as usual .. the bloke has never asked a hard question of any sportsperson in his entire career. I particularly liked the bit where he tried to enable Hook to blame the broncos' crap form of the past 12 months squarely on the injury to JYY.

My son played a couple rep games with him, he is a crafty little player but way too early to tell if he is top shelf material yet.

He needs to change his game plan. We have a forward pack that is mobile and capable of playing a good brand of footy. Instead we seem to use them all as battering rams. It is just crazy.

Psaltis is a soft touch but I thought given the context asking him about player recruitment was fairly ballsy. It's clearly a topic of interest and one that the Broncos try to shy away from all the time. It was good stuff, and that's what I want from journos. Can't stand the type who just try and grill people to get themselves over.

Hook naturally sounds pretty desperate. Coming off 3 convincing losses, any coach would I guess. Still, begging the fans to come out at the end was sort of pitiful. I don't listen to a lot of talkback radio unless I find myself in the car with my old man but I can't remember a coach ever doing that.

Griffin is just too old school in his approach, and too stubborn to evolve. I don't think he's ever going to change.

It's important that we give our members and our fans something to smile about again, and I'd just like to encourage everyone to get out there if you can next Monday night. I know as a club we haven't given you a great deal to cheer about lately but I can assure you everyone's working very hard to try and turn it around, it's hard to make sense of sometimes but everyone in our club's sticking solid and trying to get ourselves a win and that'll be what we're trying to do next Monday night.

I think hook will be safe for this season regardless of the result but if things don't improve next year questions will need to be asked.
