Sack Seibold Now!

I was really happy when Seibs came to the club. I maintain he was the best choice available (given Bellamy's shenanigans), but the best part was that it meant the cancerous tumor at the club was being excised.

I am without a doubt disappointed about the current state of affairs and Anthony is on a hiding to nothing when he is practically forced to play Isaako as Fullback and Boyd as a centre and have revolving doors for pretty much every position in the team except powerless halves stuck behind an inconsistent error prone and undisciplined pack, where the only constants are one Prop in Haas and the Lock in Carrigan.

He needs to discard all the complex ideas out the door and put together something simple that this young group can apply on the field no matter who plays, instil the necessary discipline to build character to these entitled overhyped youngsters, and once there are troops available for the purpose, he needs to make some changes to the 17 by cutting the deadwood (Boyd first, Isaako to the wing next, and eventually one of Croft / Milford, although the one thing I 100% agree with him on, is to not throw Dearden into this cesspool at the moment).

If he can't do that he has to go, because instead of being the chemotherapy we need, he will be another tumor, metastasise and spread through the group.
Who would replace him you ask? Although I don't rate him as a coach, Walters could probably do a reasonable job of hammering the basics into these kids heads, while also having more support from the Broncos community (read old guard) too. But I wouldn't expect miracles from him either...

If we don't start winning, he will be gone before the end of this year. I reckon if we cant win 2 or our next 3 he could be out. The players just aren't responding to him.
The next four should be winnable and will dictate how the season ends up. As for Seibs, he is safe till the end of the year and probably longer.

Boyd didnt even really do a great deal wrong last night tbf. He didn't offer much, but not many did either. Imagine if he got stepped like Haas did for example for the Pearce try. The meltdown would have been massive. At the moment, I'd actually say even despite him being done, he is the least of our worries right now.

yeah it’s funny that Boyd didn’t improve at all but the rest of the team fell off so bad that now I couldn’t care less if he’s picked because there are far greater issues with the team. He Steven Bradbury’d retaining his spot.

I think how we lose will be crucial to any immediate response from the club. If we lose 10-12 to a dogged Titans in a hard fought game due to goal kicking he will continue to see a reprieve as, tbf, that could happen to any coach.

If Titans and Dogs put 30+ on us for easy victories then surely an exit plan is being formed.

I dont think he will be if we don't pick up. We have shareholders to answer to. Failure impacts on the already struggling bottom line of the club. That's going to insure changes happen.

right now it probably doesn't because the crowds are limited to something like 2k, (and even if we continue losing, getting 2k to the game won't be an issue) ... and sponsors care about exposure more than anything else, and that won't be a problem, since nine love us on FTA

Yep, fair points.

A little off topic but something that has always bugged me is the argument last year when we looked poor saying that Seibold has inherited this team and inherited Bennetts mess ane not to judge him yet. But didn't he inherit michael maguires team at souths when he took over? A team which had a recently won a premiership and had some serious talent.

Way too much hype was put on his only season as a head coach in my opinion. its similar to if Bellamy was to hand over to his assistant who walks into a bloody good side and takes them to a prelim final and we go "oh wow this guy can coach". Rather then "well this guy has been handed a well oiled machine who know what they're doing".

How are people even contemplating bringing that coach who is systemically bending the rules? Can't fucking stand him and his captain who just shit on playing within the spirit of the game.

How about the SL, can we sound out the likes of Shaun Wane, Brian Noble or Brian McDermott?

Maguire certainly did a lot of the hard work (and got the sack for it), they were toughened when Seibs inherited the gig so he was really able to just work on adding another layer to an already resilient team.

I think he certainly added a bit more variety in attack, rather than just the bash em up the middle with big blokes when Maguire was in charge.

How much of that would you put down to individual brilliance? I’m happy to give him credit for having the Burgess brother take out the markers giving Cook a shit load of room to move in, but I can’t think of anything else that was improved because of coaching that year

Although after winning the premiership in 2014, the team stopped giving a shit (or were simply burnt out) and started their slide down the ladder. they finished 7th in 2015 and 12th in 2016/2017.

Seibs then took over in 2018 and brought them back into contention where the finished 3rd and 1 game from the GF.

the difference between then and now is that Maguire hand him over a battle hardened team ... Bennett handed him over a bunch of talented rookies and a bunch of over-the-hill, washed-up or just plain avaerage veterans on long term, expensive contracts.

What layer did he add?

he got them to start giving a shit again after their premiership win
