Sam consulted Mexican specialist, regarding his shoulder injury.
Shoulder received rigorous work out last weekend.

Hurts our chances of keeping Fafita.

not really ... they already had a million freed up from Inglis medical retirement ... they're not going to now up their offer to 2 million a season

Not the price, but their need for a quality second rower went up exponentially. Hopefully Mrs. Fafita likes Brisbane too much.

So his shoulder is so fucked that he needs to be medically retired with full exception on the cap? But not so fucked that he can support an adult human on it?

"Doctor, please tell me will I ever be able to play again?"

She probably weighs about 55 kgs. Not quite the same as having to tackle 120kg blokes running at full speed.
Still fucking stupid though lol.

inglis still cost them $650k on the cap this year.

What they had paid him already and his new off field job.

It certainly shines a new light on Souths 2019 campaign.

At the start of the season, Sam was one of the form players of the competition. Sam was playing some of his best football under Bennett and Souths were a real handful with Sam tearing down both edges. At the end of the day, it was short lived and if the reports are to be believed, it was only five weeks into the season before his shoulder gave way. It all culminated in his final performance against Canberra where he was exposed badly in the middle.

It's going to be interesting to see the fall-out from Souths. When Bennett took the position, I doubt he envisioned losing Inglis, Sutton and S. Burgess all over the course of one season. That's a lot of experience walking away at once and they don't really have any ready made replacements. The dynamic of the side will have to change, so it will be interesting to see what moves Bennett makes.

Yep, really interesting indeed. They'll have plenty of cash to spend so it'll be interesting to see what happens on the recruitment front and how much pull Bennett still has. Also keen to see how much faith Richardson has in Bennett because last time he had a heap of money to throw around he arguably put Newcastle under a heap of pressure with some pretty poor and expensive acquisitions.

Curious thing about Fifita and Frizzell as the obvious targets is neither of them are available right now, so it's anyone's guess what they do with all this spare cash for next year. Not spending it at all would be brave considering who they've lost through retirements this year that need replacing.

It is official, he is done. Great career by the Englishman, easily goes down as one of the best imports ever.

But front-ending some contracts with that cash will allow them to go on a Roosters'-like splurge for 2021.

Who do they have to front-end though? They are going downhill. All their guns are retired/retiring or getting on except for Murray.

They can front-end Graham, Murray and Douahi (however you spell it) but outside that, do they have anyone else worth front-ending? Cook, Reynolds and Walker are all getting on and have five years max left (if not less). They will slide next year if they bring someone(s) of calibre in next year.

I reckon front ending comes with risks. Players could look to take the money at the start then get restless at the backend.

It happened with one Brisbane Lions captain just last season in the AFL and a Fremantle player this season.
