Second Test- Australia v South Africa

The lolz if SA get to our total without dropping a wicket.

I can now officially say I've had naps longer than an Australian test innings.

Disgraceful from Australia. Mentally soft.

Hopefully the bowlers will bail the batsman out for something attainable in the 2nd.

Agreed. I am utterly disgusted.

I think the best option is to disband the team and no longer televise the sport.

Yes but the scum would make a come back Rabbits style. Michael Clarke would own them.

As predicted, the bowlers giving the team a chance with a decent showing.

Lol that was the most pathetic performance I've ever seen.

It is a good bowling wicket after all

Ian Chappell made a good point in the paper today that Shield teams are trying too much to develop young talent rather than win shield games. The younger players coming through aren't playing against enough experienced cricketers that they truly have to test themselves against. Maybe that's because the players aren't good enough to be consistent members of teams and have long careers or there actually is an over-reliance on developing young talent.

Meanwhile, England just debuted a 19 year old in India and he made 80 in his second test innings. We just debuted a mediocre 31 year old despite having a handful of early to mid-20 year olds averaging more than decent enough in the modern lacklustre batting era to have been worth a punt instead. Why are we so scared to give youth a go in the batting department when he older options are little better or in fact, worse?

Because that English Batsman faced the most amount of balls than any other batsman in County cricket and has demanded selection with his performances. You can't really say there are any batsmen that are hard done by to have missed out because they are banging the door down with hundred after hundred and back to back 1000 run seasons.

You are absolutely right of course but our FC is in poor condition in the batting stakes. But seriously, I like Fergusen and he is great in ODI but FC, he is not. All I'm saying is give a Lehmann, Patterson, Cartwright, Renshaw or Lynn (if the last two could stay fit) a crack.

How much of our batting woes in the long game are due to contrived results in Shield cricket. Too may games being set up with a run chase at the end.

I think you'd find if Lynn wasn't injured he'd be seriously considered for the test side.

Hughes- 2009
Smith- 2010
Khawaja- 2011
Warner- 2011
Burns- 2014

Our only batsmen under 25 since 2005

I honestly doubt that they'd be even thinking about a guy that hasn't played a full Shield season since 2011 and three 100's since 2011.

The removing of the covers today might have juiced it up again; but you still need to make use of it and get these five wickets. Must keep the lead to a max of 150.
