My guess is, no matter what happens, the media will put a negative spin on it.

Wayne Bennett should be our coach forever, forever, forever.

Yes, finally somebody is brave enough to address the real issue here - semantics.
Haha. Semantics indeed. The point here is the media are using semantics to create divergence of opinion, drama, debate, conflict and in the end either sell more papers or these days get more clicks. So have a dig but in the end the point about “semantics” is the subject and heart of the articles being released is about as pointless, irrelevant and poorly chosen as the words they used to deliver it with.

I think you'll find that Bennett is more likely to be our coach in 2019 than not ...

what you need to remember is that the Broncos are a publicly traded company, which means that they need to answer to shareholders about every single $ they spend.

the only chance that Bennett won't be here in 2019 is if the Rabbitohs pay the full freight (and Bennett agrees to leave).

If Souths dont stump up the cash, or a significant portion of it, i think you will be right. Having shareholders to answer to makes things difficult for us.

The shareholders should look at it like an investment in our future.

Generally, shareholders dont like to lose money. We know what we get with Bennett, we dont know how Seibold will go yet. Its a gamble in business terms,

Yeah lately we get mediocre results I can tell you no business strives for that.

mediocre on the field ... not on the financial side of the business. and that is all shareholders care about finances.

Surely more success on field and in particular premierships would boost out revenue and fatten our shareholders pockets? I would think the two are very much linked. We are this financially successful whilst not winning anything.....just imagine if we did.

Damien Cook in demand with four clubs chasing star hooker’s signature

BRISBANE are believed to have made a bold late play to sign South Sydney hooker Damien Cook for the 2020 season.
Cook’s manager Mario Tartak told The Daily Telegraph that Cook is now considering lucrative offers from four clubs, including Souths.
Well-placed sources believe Cook could be persuaded to follow coach Anthony Seibold to Brisbane in 2020 when his Rabbitohs deal expires.
Cook holds Seibold in high regard after the rookie NRL coach guided the 27-year-old from irregular first-grade starter to representative star in their first season together.
He enjoyed a breakout year under Seibold, holding off the challenge of Robbie Farah for the hooking spot before earning NSW State of Origin and Australian honours.
The Daily Telegraph understands Souths remain firm favourites to re-sign Cook to a long-term deal of up to four years.
Some sources even suggested the deal was close to being finalised.
Rival clubs, though, won’t go away, given Cook is free to sign a contract for the 2020 season and beyond.
Tartak said two of three rival clubs chasing Cook were based in Sydney, but would not confirm the Broncos as the other potential suitors.
“There has been a club that has come in late,” Tartak said. “I would be reluctant (to name the club) because we basically agreed not to say anything.
“We’re down to four clubs and that includes Souths. Two are in Sydney, one out of Sydney. They are all strong offers.
“Put it this way, we are getting closer and closer each week but I’m not in a rush, we’re definitely not in a rush.
“Souths are in heavy dialogue with me and want to retain him. He would like to stay.”
The Broncos will deny any interest in Cook, particularly given they have Queensland hooker Andrew McCullough on their books until the end of the 2021 season.
Cook will arrive back in Sydney from his honeymoon on Tuesday. It’s understood he feels a sense of loyalty to the Rabbitohs and his teammates, but he has played his best football under Brisbane-bound Seibold.
Broncos coach Wayne Bennett will arrive back in Australia from Europe on Wednesday, when negotiations will kick-start about a straight swap with Seibold for next season.
Meanwhile, Souths general manager of football, Shane Richardson, met the manager of George and Tom Burgess on a recent trip to England.
Souths remain optimistic both will re-sign despite obvious interest from rival clubs.
The twins come off contract after next season.

YES. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes. We've been average at best in the ruck for far too long. If we're gonna do everything we can to root the Griffin cancer out, we may as well go wholesale.

Not really sure we have been mediocre on the whole since Bennetts return. Considering the injuries and amount of young players we blooded this year im not actually sure i'd say we have been mediocre.

And in terms of business, we still make huge money for an NRL club, we still pull the biggest crowds. We still achieve the bare minimum we expect and thats getting to the finals.

A Seibold/Cook for Wayne/Macca swap would be highway robbery.
