PLAYER Selwyn Cobbo

Can we just go 1 day without hating on our own players after a win...

Not me starting like a dozen threads titled, 'We need to talk about _____’ and then it's just like...

I Love Him Raising Arizona GIF

The thing with Cobbo is that for every mistake he'll come up with big play and vice versa.

For instance tonight he had that shocker under the high ball, but then he does remarkably well to bring it back into the field of play and makes a line-break out of absolutely nothing to help swing the momentum back the Broncos way.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind - Brent Tate, 2006.

As I said, I don’t believe he wants to improve based on what people involved with the club have told me. He thinks he’s there already, he thinks the blokes coaching him can’t coach and he’s reached the only goal he’s ever had.

I wouldn't have had him back after the interview.

I hear all the negatives, and yes, he had an absolute Barry Crocker tonight, sure. But to crucify the bloke after a shitty start to the season?! WE’RE 4-0!!! And I don’t see anyone talking smack when he scores a
2-3 tries in a game and wins it for us.

And giving up on that catch was unforgivable. He made a lot of metres because we were coming out of our own half a lot.
The “catch”… that was fucked.
The meters? They were crucial!
As I said before the Penriff game, make the back 5 work and take the pressure off the forwards! Losing Corey at the back certainly hasn’t helped.

I didn't think Selwyn had that bad of a game actually, should have scored yes but I think Nicholls deserves a bit of credit there. If we are judging him on that? I don't think that's fair.

I agree totally. Yes that one catch he didn’t go for was bad but he’ll learn from it. The No try was simply great defending by Nicholls, well done to him and credit where it is due. Cobbo makes stuff happen and his metres are incredibly underrated. He’s still a kid and kids make mistakes. Even Walsh had some dumb moments tonight, are we gonna start a sack him thread too?

This bloke sucks. He’s fat, dumb and lazy. He will be up there with the Dave Taylor’s, TPJ’s and Anthony Milford’s as the biggest waste of talent this sport has seen. So disappointed in him.
I said this in another thread .. before I saw this one.

"Compare both the man, and his mannerisms, and the player before and after he was knocked out in Origin. I think that's where the answer lays."

Please think about it .. and get back to me with your thoughts.

So getting knocked out caused him to go a podcast and rag on his coach and admit that he quit on the team? With the amount of concussions these days it’s going to be a busy time for obscure podcasters.

I suppose Cobbo needs to take:
36 runs for 340m
80 post contact metres
12 tackle breaks
And 2 tries

Per match to make SOME people happy.
I don’t care about his stats, I don’t want him at this club. I didn’t want him hear the second that shit about the podcast came out. The little shit couldn’t even do a sincere apology.

People are acting like I am over reacting over one game but I don’t want him here and don’t think he deserves to be in the team so he is coming from a really low base with me.

Look like it's official ... BHQ 2023 scapegoat is Selwyn Cobbo.

Well, there is of course, old reliable Billy Walters to fall back on, but you always need someone more talented and more high profile to lay the blame on.

It is unusual though, for BHQ to name the scapegoat while we're on an unexpected, undefeated winning streak. Usually people wait until we've lost a few games

I’m not scapegoating him or blaming him for anything, I don’t want him in the team and to be there after what he has done he should be damn near perfect. He isn’t.

Getting concussed always affects people differently. Yes, it can absolutely make one lose some of their inhibitions, and absolutely be the cause of them saying things they never would have prior to a concussion. Once you introduce alcohol into the scenario .. things can very quickly turn into a total train wreck. I believe that Selwyn was taken advantage of, and basically just used for a very cheap headline that day. In any case, I'd believe that before I would believe that all of a sudden Cobbo simply woke up one day and just stopped giving a ****.

I predict in 12 months this thread is going to age like milk.

He's a KID. People expecting a 20 year old to be carving up every game.

He's had some great plays this year and some brain dead ones. Comes with a kid learning the game. His debut season is over - he thinks he know what's what now. He'll get a reality check soon enough and start to improve again.

It's like you guys started watching footy 5 years ago, fucking clueless.
