PLAYER Selwyn Cobbo

Last night was an Adam Reynolds class-ter-class. He's getting all my Dally M points.

This week's tagline was "straightening things up." That was Selwyn's alleged remit, and most importantly, unlike Reece he didn't make more than 10,000 errors.

I don't know what we'll learn from Reece's absence, but right now it looks like he had too many fingers in the pudding, and was more than a little tackle shy.
I mean Walsh is Definitely a generational talent, and whatever has ****ed him up this year soo far we hope is only for now, but if we want to keep Cobbo he has to be our dominant centre and that will come at the expense of Staggs, no team can keep the quality of team we currently have which is why we should be aiming for the GF this year.

if we transition Staggs to backrow which generally asks for big money if they function there it can work cap wise for us, but Riki has to go and probably piakura too.

I'm fine with that tbh.

JFC, i hate the media. Every time we have a solid performance they start rolling out all the contract articles. Go write about the storm or some shit and how they maintain a full rep level spine.

re: Cobbo. He was solid on Thursday night, I understand there is a lot of hype after a big win - But he was hardly tested at all. Lets see how he goes over the next month or so before we proclaim him as the next G.I.

Talk that he would be willing to leave broncos... im not sure about that, but if that's the case and he ends up heading to Sydney, then all we need to do is keep a roster spot open and don't burn any bridges.

He won't survive down there, but his manager will pull together a nice little salary package for him that could set him up for a fair while.

It'll take all of about 12 months before that contract starts looking shaky and the Sydney club that got him will be looking to cut and run... we can be there with open arms and a "we can fix him"

I personally think that article was a result of Badel's interview question that was designed to get the response he got.

That's not to say that he won't leave if the offer is big enough

For sure... everything that comes out of a journo's mouth is a leading question to get some sort of answer that they can turn into an article.

There is no doubt that over the next month or so whist he's playing fullback that his manager will be out and about looking to up his client's price.

He's had one solid game, but I don't think he was tested at all by the dogs kicking game.

I'll be interested to see how he continues to perform whilst Walsh is out and through the origin period... starting with Cleary and his kicking game.

To be honest this is almost a perfect situation for Cobbo's manager and I can see him wanting to try and sort something out before origin... because he will be well aware that his form can fall of a cliff during the origin period.

It's easy to say you'll do something when you've never actually done it before.
I seen him quote something like "Cherbourg isn't going to run away" but It would be the people just as much as the place for him and some of those people aren't getting any younger.

Could see him staying on here for another year then get offered a massive contract from the Perth team.

Be honest with yourselves: Is anyone here really going to be all that upset if this bloke decides to go? He looks like Barney Gumble slugging along out there.

That 5 min stint he had at fullback, slowly trotting along the try line. My goodness.

No urgeny on kick chase, no urgency on yardage runs.

It's time to go.

At this point I’ll be upset if he stays. Same goes with Staggs and Riki

I think I’d be getting rid of Staggs and riki before cobbo. As unprofessional as cobbo has been, he’s still running harder and looking for more tough carries than the other two. Staggs is getting beaten by a lot for pace out wide as well and it puts us on the back foot way too often.

That’s his job and he’s doing it poorly. He’s not doing tough carries. He’s basically walking into contact

Yes I agree he can do a lot better and be fitter as well. But what does it say about the rest of the team when he was second for run metres when not even trying.
