Badel is reporting that this incident could cost Mam around $500k.
  • Rehab bill is $100k
  • Repairs to both vehicles (his + uber)
  • Fines from both the Broncos and the NRL
It's not mentioned in the article, but a good chance he'd have to pay compensation to the other parties (no doubt he'll settle if the other parties file a law suit)

Badel claiming rehab costs 100k is right up there as one of his best.

Wrong

Commercial insurance is different. They protect the owner of the car, not the driver. If this was a company vehicle, it'll be insured for anything a fuckwit using the car does behind the wheel.

Just like if an Avis renter was destroyed by a pissed driver, their insurer would still pay out to Avis.

With my experience it comes down to what you're willing to pay to cover it (if you're handing the keys to a young footballer you'd assume you'd be paying the highest price).

You can get commercial insurance for cars where the drivers have to blow 0.00 for alcohol test after a crash otherwise insurance is void (this is cheaper). Know a guy who went this option and regretted it when an employee crashed after a few beers the night before, was well under 0.05 but wasn't 0.00, insurance said not our problem, employee didn't break the law (and wasn't aware of this clause).

Under the influence of drugs would definitely void it, you'd assume no license would do it to. I thought no licence would even void the CTP?

So, no matter who the driver is, CTP insurance will pay out if you're injured in a car accident with a registered vehicle. Even if the at-fault driver is unlicensed or underaged, CTP can cover hospital expenses, rehabilitation, lost income and long-term care.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) covers claims made against you if you or anyone else driving your car has an accident and someone is injured or dies. CTP doesn't cover damage caused to vehicles or property. For that, you'll need car insurance.

Thanks mate, that makes sense.

I knew the difference between CTP and property damage. Couldn't remember if unlicenced drivers/intoxicated drivers would void that.

Basically the only time CTP isn't covered is when a vehicle isn't registered, therefore having not having insurance policy at all.

I'm pretty sure QLD have a scheme for when the other vehicle isn't reged either so the not at fault person doesn't lose out on that.

While Badel is probably pushing it a bit, If Ezra is doing inpatient rehab $20-30k a month is probably pretty normal. If he's got some serious issues, 90 days in rehab wouldnt be out of the question.

Where Badel has probably got the $100k from would be some of these so called " Luxury " rehab facilities.

Honestly I don't know how I feel about all this, we are going to be cucked for '25 unless we get salary cap space for Ezras contract, what he did honestly is very much worthy of a full termination given he could very much end up in jail from this, if he wasn't a young promising player we would have thrown him to the curb already though.

I do feel like Ezra will learn from this though and I hope I'm right about it, he doesn't come off as a bad kid before this off season he was clean as a whistle with no dilemmas to speak of and I hope it stays that way for the rest of his career he owes this club for staying by him after this.

Alot might think he is Milford on how 24 went but he was injured for most of it, I think the best is to come from him but he has to sort his head and life out from this set back.

he could very much end up in jail from this,

No he won`t your honour ....
1st offenders nearly always get a get out of jail free card . And seeing as he is already taking steps to rehabilitate himself the redmption story is already being framed by his handlers .
Slap on the wrist , compensation for the victims and community service is my call .

The mother of the young girl injured in the car crash has spoken out to Danny Weedler in a wide-ranging interview:

- daughter has been to an orthopedic surgeon and won’t need surgery, the fractured hip is healing well.
- she is not allowed to jump up and down, and this is a "very tough thing to tell a four year old".
- daughter is suffering from very bad nightmares.
- physical injuries are healing but mental scars taking longer to heal.
- having trouble sleeping from these nightmares and couldn't attend daycare one day recently.
- when asked by Weedler her thoughts on Ezra playing again, Mum said: “I don’t know how I’d feel. Part of me believes people deserve a second chance, but part of me feels that people need to face the consequences of their actions. I don’t know how I’d feel, I’d be torn".

TLDR of this is if i get paid enough all my issues and mental suffering will go away
not saying this is neccessarily a bad thing if you can get your bag then get it.
i more dissapointed in the scum media but shouldnt be surpised.
this wouldnt still be a story if it wasnt a broncos superstar.
if it was any average player from another club we would of stopped hearing about this after the first week.

If it serves as a deterrent that stops one other fuckwit footy player doing the same thing, then it's fine with me.

i can understand that point im just jaded at the world atm for many reasons.

Just over the hyperbolicness (if thats a word) of it all from what in the end is a low speed accident.
if any one buys the kid is having endless nightmares and is emotinally scarred from it i got a bridge to selll you. but i get it she wants her money i just a little over the over reaction beacuse of who the person was.

But in saying that i guess there is 2 sides to it. If it was a lesser player or a player a club wanted to get rid of then its most likely a 100% sacking.

and before some posters here come after me with not having any sympathy for her its not that at all
I do.

but if it was me and my family i wouldnt be continueing to do these interviews weeks later Stilly using my child to milk sympathy i would rather protect my kid from the coverage and move forward privatly.
I would be leaving it in hands of lawyer to work out fair compensations between the other party.

But thats just me we all have differant morals i suppose.

The difference is though plenty of people probably are going through what this family says they are going through, there is just no outlet for them to express it where everyone can hear it like when it happens when a public figure is involved. If some idiot runs into me and my family, i'm not really going to have the media chasing me for a story like when somebody like Ezra is involved.

i do understand it i do.

but like i said in previous post im just using my moral values.

i know f if it was me and my child i 100% would not be weeks later bringing this up again. nothing new was gained from it other then chasing more air time and sympathy and im assuming they paid her a pretty penny to say all the same stuff she said weeks ago.

Again everyone has differant morals but after the initial fall out i would not want to bring this up in the media again when it does nothing for my child especailly if the kid is so traumatized like she says.

In the end though like nashy says if this starts making nrl players wake the **** up then so be it.
