I think it was more Bennett wanted Taylor to get some experience without disrupting his starting halves.

Smith was very good, but he became a better footballer as he got older and matured more.

I think it was more Bennett wanted Taylor to get some experience without disrupting his starting halves.

I doubt Bennett wanted to lose him at all, but he is smart enough to recognise that without flexibility you will lose those sort of players anyway, but all good will would be gone. Now there is a possibility that we 'may' be able to attract a very talented NRL grade halfback in years to come, IF we need to look for one.

Bennett knew (and knows...) Milford and Hunt are his number one halves and that won't change in the near future if he has any say in it, no matter how talented a 'prospect' might be. Unless Ben Hunt (or Milford) slide massively backwards, or get severely injured, there will be no other starting half he wants.
