SOO Teams 2010

So now the combination of talent is illegal and shouldn't play orign lol, FFS some of you guys need to get over yourselves, there are a few on this forum who are sitting atop mighty high horses.

If we managed to get 2 of them to the Broncs I guess Ivan should tell them not to use their combination. [eusa_doh

How is not a result of the cheating of the salary cap? Cronk has been able to develop these combinations with other Melbourne players by the club rorting the salary cap. If it weren't for the breaches, these combinations would not have been developed to the same extent, such that it is possible that Cronk would not be a position to be in contention for the origin side.

At the core of my reasoning is that the last thing that I want is the glory of our five straight wins being tarnished by a bunch of cheats (more then it already is).

I'm sorry that the fact that these players are benefit from ripping off the NRL gets under my skin, just the way I feel.

Has to be Prince to play Origin if Thurston is out after his game last night. It may be a sad truth, but come Origin time the QLD selectors are going to want to select a player from a hardened team, rather than one that has been training playing touch football games and goal kickers using their non-favourite foot. Of course this will only be an issue for the tight decision positions, as Slater, Inglis and Smith are dead-certs.

I agree about Barba he looks a star of the future and could be a very handy utility!

The players didn't cheat. They were not assembled in the first place as part of a rort.

I would bet that at least the 2007 premiership will be reinstated in time because they were not that far over in 2007.

As gould said this morning, why not let the forensic accountants into all the clubs. Answer? because they are scared of what they will uncover.

No, but the reason that Cronk was able to develop his combinations with the other players, something that comes with time, was that they were kept together only because the Storm systematically overpaid players in an effort to cheat the salary caps

I thought the point was not the amount that they were over in past years, but rather they knowingly paid beyond the restrictions of the salary cap (cheated), different to being over the salary cap due to say, covering injuries - but I do not know what will happen in the future, so who knows, but I am not putting my hard earned scratch on that bet

Let them in, there is one thing that is beyond doubt and i hope everyone agrees with - 2011 needs to be free of clubs illegally breaching the salary cap - I know its just PR and all that, but some CEOs (on the footy show) said they were not worried, so send in Deloittes or whoever - (yes, Broncos included)

There are about 10 other threads on the forums discussing the storm and the salary cap rorting ffs, can we not turn this into one please?

Cronk will surely be halfback for QLD if Thurston is not fit.

How came (if fit) they would have picked Thurston when he, like Izzy; has no contract and is in talks with rival codes and has even said he might not play league next year.......

Fair call, I can live with Thurston not being picked.

Yep great point and an interesting precedent they have set.

That's a great point Tee. I'd fully support Mal and the selectors if they didn't pick him because of that.

But hasn't Thurston done enough to earn a "swansong" so to speak? He has been instrumental in the 4 series victories (as a whole), forming the core with Darren and Smith, doesn't he deserve to get to play in this series, if fit and in form, based on where he's help take us? Surely he's entitled to do the lap with the boys for the 5th?

He's done plenty. But even if it was someone like Lockyer I'd have the same viewpoint.
