It's a very interesting problem that Queensland has. They are all good hookers, but they are all a couple of levels below Smith so we have lost so much, particularly in the kicking department. Defensively we lose nothing though.
Tend to agree with Beads though. Payne has been playing good football for a while and his combination with Thurston is the only reason the Cowboys are half competitive.
Kevin Kingston is another who has had a solid start to the season and was a driving force behind the Eels run to the finals last year. But i would have to go with Friend.
Still don't think Cronk should be picked ahead of Prince (if Thurston is out). Didn't show enough with the Melbourne combinations that he offers more than Prince to be selected. If Smith is out it's even more of a reason to pick Prince, especially if Friend is selected.
I think playing a non regular hooker at hooker just to fit them in the team because they are a good player is a bad idea. It's too crucial a position in my opinion to take a chance on.
Cronk should be halfback if he's going to be selected. I'm not even sure if he should be the utlility on the bench.
