OFFICIAL Staggs Commits for 4 Years

I don't think he'll be what the Broncos need at 5/8th with the current spine(even if another halfback comes in), but who knows.

Jeez ... can we just, for a few minutes, enjoy the fact that a talented player with some runs on the board has actually placed some faith in the club ... Coates can literally get his coat and hopefully that's the end of the exodus, maybe now a few will start coming in through the revolving door instead of leaving.

You're making the assumption we weren't simply the last one willing to dance with him at the prom. He's suffered a major injury, want's a heck of a lot for a player only proven in the centres who suffers from defensive lapses and is basically and out and out attack machine and has a laundry list of off field 'issues'. After Eels yanked their offer, were we the last ones offering any serious money? Maybe.

Securing his signature for 4 years is nice, but given the timing and how long he held out on this move, I can't help but feel we were (close to) his last resort.

I'm sure five-eighth is going to be a daunting but exciting time for him.

It's easy to get caught up in he might be 100k overpaid or whatever, but honestly who gives a ****?

It's sure as **** a better start than having guys like Milford who are 900k overpaid.

There's nothing wrong with taking a gamble on actually good players and paying 50-100k too much because you're at least getting 90% value. You'd hope they balance out with a few good contracts like Haas who is at least 300k undervalued.

The bad contracts are the Milford and Flegler deals where you're getting 10% value.

Staggs is a good start for next year. I'm excited for where Kev takes the roster if we land a good halfback as well.

Dont kid yourself, he shopped himself around big time and he didnt get what he wanted. If he was that keen on staying a Bronco he wouldnt have tested himself in the market. I'm glad he is still here, but its not because he had faith in the club.

But he stayed and we are desperate for good news, this IS good news.

Was it about 10 days ago parra 'pulled out' of trying to sign him?

He is allowed to test what value he is worth on the market... His manager probably threw dollar signs in front of him and has likely been shopping him around to any club that would listen. But he has clearly overvalued him.

He may have thought long and hard about heading to Parra, but I don't recall him visiting their facilities like Dearden and Coates have.

I very much doubt he's on anything close to $700k... that's just the figure courier fail started throwing out there. Chris Garry reported $600k a couple days before Badel decided to give him a Dobbobux pay rise...

Whilst that is possibly slight overs for a center, he is basically the best attacking center in the game. He can create opportunities for himself and represents a strike weapon in our backline, which we desperately need.

Absolutely he is allowed. I just dont like the way he is portrayed as staying here because he loves the Broncos. He wanted a bidding war, all he got was our offer in the end.

He did actually go down to Parra and look around. Couldnt tell you if he went anywhere else, but Parra i know he was down there.

Cant remember, that might have been the gold coast, but Parra pulled their offer anyway. I dont believe any club offered him close to what he is getting here.
